“That you fucking belong to me… you are mine!” Aiden snarled, his voice rough, breaking the air between them like a whip. He took a step closer, his gaze dark and burning with a kind of love Cassia had never seen before.
“You’re out of your mind, Aiden,” she whispered, her voice trembling even though she tried to sound firm. “I’m not a property you can own-”
Her words faltered as her back hit the wall. The solid surface pressed against her spine, cold compared to the heat radiating off him. She swallowed hard, breath catching in her throat.
“Maybe not property,” he murmured, voice low and dangerous. But your soul…” He stepped forward again, his breath ghosting over her skin. “Your soul still remembers mine… no matter how far you run, Amelia.”
Her pulse thundered. His nearness was suffocating. His hot breath brushed against her lips, his scent – pine, musk, and faint traces of cinnamon – filled her lungs, intoxicating her senses. The tension between them wound tighter, coiling like a live wire ready to snap.
He raised a hand, his fingertips grazing her cheek, his thumb traging the corner of her jaw with agonizing slowness. But before he could fully touch her, Cassia turned her head sharply away, pressing herself against the wall as if it could absorb her.
Her body betrayed her.
Her knees weakened, her chest rising and falling in uneven rhythm. She didn’t want him close and yet, she did. Every instinct in her screamed to push him away, but her wolf howled for the opposite. The beast inside her stirred, restless. craving him. Craving the one bond that had never truly been broken.
She clenched her fists, nails digging into her palms as she fought for control. Not now. Not him. Not again.
“Amelia…” His whisper was raw, heavy with longing. His face tilted closer, their lips only a breath apart.
Her breath hitched, eyes fluttering closed for half a second before she forced them open again. “Aiden, I’m engaged,” she said in a shaky whisper, her voice cracking. “I’m getting married. Please… stop.”
Even as she spoke, her heart betrayed her words – hammering wildly, yearning for his touch. Her body burned for him, the echo of their bond pulling at her in ways she couldn’t deny. She wanted his lips on hers. She wanted him to claim her, even though she hated herself for wanting it.
Aiden’s expression twisted….half pain, half defiance.
“You aren’t married yet, Cassia,” he growled. “And fuck that ring on your finger- it’s nothing but a commodity that can be thrown away.”
She flinched, but he didn’t stop. His eyes gleamed, fierce and desperate.
“But my love for you,” he continued, his voice softening, tremblog with truth, “our love… is unmatched. It can’t be thrown away. It can’t be replaced. Please, Amelia…” He stepped closer, his chest brushing hers, his voice breaking into a whisper, ” don’t marry Damien.”
His words cracked something deep inside her.
Her lips parted, but no sound came out. Aiden leaned in, his face lowering until his lips hovered near her neck. His breath was warm against her skin as he buried his face into the curve ofher throat, inhaling deeply.
Her scent hit him… Vanilla and soft moonlight. It wrapped arough his senses like a spell, calming and maddening all at once. His body trembled as his wolf purred in satisfaction, clawing for clease.
“Aiden…” Cassia’s voice came out as a soft, helpless moan. Her head tilted instinctively, baring her neck to him – an

unconscious submission. Her wolf wanted to be marked, to feel the connection again. She tried to fight it, but every effort only made her weaker. The air around them grew heavy with desire, the energy between them burning hot enough to sear.
Aiden’s control slipped. His breathing deepened, his eyes flickering gold as his wolf surfaced. His fangs began to emerge – sharp, gleaming, hungry. He wanted to mark her, to sink his teeth into her skin and make her his again. But a shred of humanity held him back. He didn’t want to take her without her permission.
His hand trembled as he gripped the wall beside her, forcing himself to stay still. But when she bared her neck further, soft and vulnerable, it shattered the last of his restraint.
He closed his eyes, lowering his face to her neck, his lips brushing her skin-
A small sneeze echoed through the room.
Both of them froze.
Aiden blinked, head snapping toward the sound. Cassia’s breath hitched sharply as she turned too.
On the hospital bed, Ethan stirred…eyes fluttering open, his little fingers twitching.
Aiden’s fangs instantly retracted, his chest rising and falling with uneven breaths as he stepped away from Cassia. The tension shattered like glass. Cassia exhaled shakily, pressing a hand to her chest, trying to steady her heartbeat.
“Ethan,” Aiden breathed, voice soft and trembling. He crossed the room in quick strides.
The boy blinked, dazed, his eyes adjusting to the light. When he saw Aiden, a small smile curved on his lips. “Daddy?” he whispered weakly.
Aiden’s throat bobbed. “Yes… it’s me. It’s your daddy.” His voice broke, thick with emotion as he ran his fingers through Ethan’s hair.
Ethan blinked again, eyes clearing as realization dawned. “Daddy” he cried out, tears spilling down his cheeks.
Aiden helped him sit up carefully and wrapped his arms around him. “I’m here,” he murmured against the boy’s hair. holding him tight. “I’m here, my little warrior.”
Cassia stood at a distance, her eyes softening as she watched the scene. Her chest ached with pity and admiration warring inside her. Ethan wasn’t Aiden’s biological son, and yet here he was, loving him with all his heart. It took someone rare…. someone good to love like that, even after knowing the truth.
“Daddy, I had a bad dream,” Ethan whispered, pulling back slightly. “Mommy died… but then she came and told me we’d meet again. She said she loves me. And then… I woke up.”
Aiden froze, his body stiffening. His lips parted, but no words came.
“Where’s Mommy?” Ethan asked softly, his eyes scanning the room. Then he saw Cassia. His expression brightened. “Aunt Amelia!”
Cassia swallowed hard, forcing a smile as she walked over, her steps careful. She reached for her stethoscope, checking his pulse and breathing, trying to keep her voice steady. “How are you feeling. Ethan?”
“I’m fine,” he said innocently. “But I want to see Mommy”
Cassia’s heart twisted. She glanced at Aiden, whose expression had gone pale. He didn’t know how to tell the boy the truth- that his mother was gone. Ethan had just woken up, the shock could crush him, maybe even send him spiraling back into a
coma.
“Ethan…” Aiden began, voice low and uncertain.

Aiden turned toward her, their eyes locking. The air shifted again…a faint jolt of energy humming between them. His gaze flicked briefly to her neck, remembering how close he’d been to marking her moments ago. Cassia swallowed hard, her pulse fluttering.
“What?” Ethan’s small voice broke the moment. “When is she coming back?”
Cassia tore her gaze away from Aiden and smiled softly at the boy. “Soon. But for now, you need to rest, Ethan. We’ll get you some food and your medicine, okay? When your mommy comes, she’ll be happy to see you strong and smiling again.”
Ethan nodded sleepily, comforted by her words.
Cassia turned slightly, her eyes finding Aiden once more. His gaze lingered on her… filled with gratitude, longing, and something darker, something dangerous. She knew that look too well.
The storm between them wasn’t over.
It had only just begun.
