Chapter 162
Meanwhile, Amelia and Tracy sat close to each other at the dining table. James sat opposite them, unmoving, as he stared at Amelia and Tracy.
“Amelia… I thought you died,” Tracy finally said, voice shaking.
She gave a faint smile. “Yeah… I thought I did too.”
They all laughed softly, though the air still carried a heavy ache.
“Someone saved me,” she continued, her voice trembling. “And here I am-alive and well.” Tears shimmered in her eyes before she could stop them.
“You have to tell me everything,” Tracy said quickly, her voice breaking. “We were all so sad, Amelia. We couldn’t move on- your family, your mother especially. She was devastated! You could’ve sent a message, anything, just to let us know you were alive. Seven years… seven long years without a trace. That’s a long time”
Amelia’s lips pressed together as guilt washed through her. “It wasn’t that easy, Tracy. I wish I could have reached out. I’m so sorry…”
Tracy smiled faintly and reached for her hand. “It’s fine. I’m just glad you’re alive. You look even more beautiful than the last time I saw you. You were always gorgeous, but now… you look even better”
Amelia smiled weakly, her gaze drifting over Tracy. She couldn’t say the same. Tracy looked leaner, almost fragile, her eyes tired and haunted. She looked like someone who’d been through hell and barely crawled out. Something in her aura felt different…darker, heavier but Amelia couldn’t quite name what i was.
Or maybe it was just her imagination. Seven years was a long time. People changed.
James quietly stood up and excused himself, giving them space to talk.
“I heard you have a son,” Tracy said softly. “And you’re getting married to a doctor named Damien. You’re a doctor now too, right?”
Amelia blinked, curious. “How did you know?”
“James told me,” Tracy said, smiling faintly.
“Yes, it’s true,” Amelia said, brushing a tear from her cheek.
“You’re so lucky, Amelia,” Tracy said, her tone shifting slightly. “Life seemed to get easier for you after you… faked your death and left. I wish I could say the same for me.”
“I’m sorry,” Amelia whispered.
Tracy shrugged lightly. “It’s fine. I just-” she forced a small laug”-I need to see your son, and your soon-to-be husband, Damien. And now that I’m here, maybe I can be your chief bridesmaid again.”
Amelia smiled at the memory that flashed through her mind-r wedding to Aiden. Tracy had been her chief bridesmaid then too. “Yeah,” she said softly, “I’d love that.”
“When I heard you were coming yesterday, I was so happy,” Tracy said. “But you didn’t show up.”
Amelia sighed. “We actually got caught in a heavy storm on the way, and the car broke down. I’m sorry for keeping you waiting.”
“We?” Tracy repeated, her eyes narrowing slightly. “You mean you and Alpha Aiden?”
Amelia stiffened, her gaze falling. She gave a small nod.
“Amelia, please tell me you haven’t forgiven him,” Tracy said sharply. “After everything he did to you… he doesn’t deserve it.”
Amelia forced a smile, trying to keep her voice steady. “Tracy, les not talk about Aiden.”
She quickly changed the subject. “What happened to you? I hear you were the last person who saw my parents.”
Tracy’s expression faltered. She swallowed hard, and tears instantly welled up.
“Yes,” she whispered.
“What happened?” Amelia’s voice trembled. “I’ve been searching for them since I came back to red moon pack. I can’t find them anywhere.”
Tracy wiped her tears, her voice shaking as she began to speak.
FLASHBACK
Amelia covered her mouth, tears spilling down her cheeks.
“How did you escape?” she asked after a long silence.
Tracy hesitated. “One of the guards who brought me food… he led to try to force himself on me.” Her voice broke. “One day, I managed to grab his gun and shoot him. I ran. I didn’t stop until I collapsed outside the house I’d been kept in. That’s where David found me.”
“David?” Amelia asked, confused.
“The private investigator Aiden hired to find your parents.”
Amelia froze, her breath catching. She hadn’t known Aiden had one that.
“I’m so sorry for everything you went through,” she whispered.
Tracy smiled faintly, her eyes glistening. “I’m just glad you’re alive, Amelia. I know Ma’am Evelyn would’ve been happy to see you again.”
“Do you think they’re still alive?” Amelia asked hopefully.
Tracy hesitated. “They kept me alive that long. I believe they might be too. They should be…”
Amelia smiled weakly through her tears.
“Can you take us to the place you were kept?” a deep voice asked from behind.
They both turned to see Aiden standing there, James beside him
Amelia’s heart sank. She hadn’t even noticed them enter. How long had they been listening?
Tracy’s expression changed instantly-her hands trembled, sweat glistening on her forehead.
“I… I don’t think that’s a good idea,” she said quietly, fear flashing in her eyes.
