Cassia…her body glistening beneath the shower, her dark hair plastered to her back, water streaming down her flawless skin. She hadn’t noticed him yet.

Aiden’s breath caught in his throat.

For the first time in years, he felt completely undone.

His wolf growled low in his chest, restless, clawing at his insides. His eyes roamed down her spine, from her wet hair trailing along her back, to her slender waist, to the curve of her hips, down to her long, toned legs. She looked like something divine, a goddess carved from the moon itself.

Desire scorched through him…raw and uncontrollable. He ached to touch her, to hold her, and to claim her. To sink his teeth into her skin and mark her as his again. His wolf demanded it, howling inside him, urging him to close the distance and never let her go.

How could I have let this woman slip through my fingers? he thought, his throat tight. How can someone be this perfect_ and not mine?

The feelings he thought had died long ago, feelings he had never once felt for Sofia, not in seven years were suddenly alive. violent and impossible to ignore. Just one sight of Cassia’s bare body, and he was lost.

Meanwhile, Cassia, who was standing under the water, stiffened. Her wolf stirred, alive, alert and awake in a way she could not explain. She caught his scent. Aiden’s scent. Her lips parted as her heart began to pound in her chest.

“No,” she muttered under her breath, shutting her eyes as frustration curled in her gut. “If you’re going to stay dead, then stay dead. Don’t wake up now, don’t stir.I’m not even close to him”

Her wolf didn’t answer. But the bond, faint and buried, pulsed painfully.

Her heartbeat quickened, breath shallow. She clenched her jaw, willing herself to block it out, to fight it but the scent grew stronger. She turned and suddenly her eyes widening when she saw him.

Aiden. Standing at the door. His gaze locked on her bare body.

Shock froze her. Her hands immediately flew up, covering her chest as her lips parted in disbelief. “What the…”

Their eyes locked, and reality hit him like lightning. Aiden jolted guilt crashing down, and quickly looked away, his jaw tightening.

“I’m sorry,” he rasped, voice hoarse, low. “I didn’t…I didn’t see anything.”

Fury ignited in Cassia’s chest. She yanked the towel from the rack and wrapped it tightly around herself before storming out of the bathroom, dripping wet, anger radiating off her. She stopped dead when she found Aiden still inside the room.

“Amelia, please let me explain,” Aiden began, hands raised as though surrendering. His voice cracked with desperation. “I didn’t mean to….I swear I didn’t…”

“Get. Out.” Her voice was sharp, cutting. Her fists balled at her sides, water dripping from her hair down her neck, her chest rising and falling quickly.

“Amelia…”

“I said get out!” she snapped, voice shaking with fury.

Arthur stirred in his sleep, rolling over on the bed. Both their eyes darted to him before locking back on each other.

Cassia’s voice dropped, trembling with restrained rage. “Out. Now.”

Aiden swallowed hard, his throat dry, guilt and longing battling his chest. Finally, he nodded and walked past her, his footsteps heavy. The moment the door closed behind him, Cassin turned the lock and leaned against it, chest heaving.

Her hands trembled against her towel. Her heart hammered like it would break free from her ribs. Why? Why do I feel like this? Seeing Aiden’s eyes on her bare body, after seven years, had stirred something dangerous inside her. Something she didn’t dare name.

She cursed under her breath. She should have woken him, should have thrown him out the moment she arrived. She couldn’t afford this. Five more nights, and she’d be gone.

She forced herself to dry off quickly, pulling on a simple red gown. She sat at the dressing table with the blow dryer humming, trying to push the thoughts away, but the memory of his gaze seared into her mind.

“Stupid. Stupid,” she muttered. “How did I not sense him properly? I even smelled his scent and didn’t realize…” Her lips pressed into a thin line. Pervert. Son of a bitch.

“Mommy!”

Arthur’s sleepy voice jolted her out of her spiraling thoughts. She looked up, relief washing over her when she saw him rubbing his eyes on the bed.

“Oh, honey,” she whispered, rushing to him. She sat beside him and stroked his hair.

“You’re back,” he mumbled, smiling faintly. “Where’s Alpha Aiden? He was here when I fell asleep.”

Cassia’s hand stilled in his hair. A flare of anger rushed through her veins at the mention of Aiden’s name. The thought of him seeing her naked made her blood boil.

She forced a smile for her son’s sake. “He left before I came, sweetheart. I’m sure he’s somewhere doing… whatever it is he does. And I don’t care.”

Arthur frowned at her tone. He knew his mother well, she only sounded like this when she was really angry. His small voice was cautious. “Did Alpha Aiden do something wrong?”

“What? No.” Her denial was too sharp, too quick. She sighed and softened her voice. “I’m just tired, honey. I had a stressful day at work. Come on, let’s get you dressed. Then we’ll go downstairs for dinner.”

A short while later, she had bathed Arthur, dressed him, and taken his hand as they descended the stairs together.

At the dining table, they found only Ethan and Elena. The cook was coaxing Ethan to eat, but the boy sat sullen, pushing the food away.

“Hey, Ethan,” Arthur greeted with a wave.

Ethan glanced up at him. For a brief moment, something flicked in his eyes….sadness, then hostility. He turned away without a word.

Arthur looked up at his mother, his eyes dim with hurt. Cassia’s Heart clenched, but she forced a smile for him. She already knew what had happened. Sofia had gotten to Ethan, turned hin against her son.

“Come, honey,” she said gently. “Let’s go prepare our own dinne

Thirty minutes later, she and Arthur carried steaming plates of ice and sauce back toward the dining hall. She intended to take them upstairs, to eat in peace. But when they reached the tile, Ethan was gone, and only James sat there, fiddling with his phone, his plate untouched.

“Hey, Cassia,” James greeted warmly. “Sit in the dinning, Let’s call

She hesitated. “I don’t want to disrupt…”

“You won’t,” James interrupted with a small smile. “Aiden and Soa won’t be coming down. Trust me. Sit.”

Arthur looked at her expectantly. Cassia gave in, smiling faintly as she served her son first, then herself.

James pushed his untouched plate toward her. “Serve me a little too.”

She chuckled softly. “You’ll make the maids cry if you don’t eat their food.”

“They know by now I don’t like it,” he said with a laugh. “Your food, on the other hand, it tastes like heaven”

Cassia rolled her eyes, dishing a portion for him. They began eating.

But James suddenly stilled, his gaze fixed on the stairs. His eyes widened.

Cassia turned, and her smile froze.

Aiden was descending the staircase. And in his arms was Sofia. Cadled like a bride.

Cassia’s chest tightened, her face hardening as she watched them

The faint flicker of warmth she had felt earlier was gone. All that remained was the sharp sting of betrayal and jealousy.
