The smile on her face slowly disappeared as she stared at the both of them. Something sharp, almost like jealousy, flickered in her eyes. She quickly looked away, forcing herself to focus on her son, who was intent on his food.
Sofia, however, had her gaze fixed on Cassia. Victory glimmered in her eyes, smug and deliberate, as though she had just won a battle. Aiden gently lowered Sofia onto a chair, then sat beside her.
“Amelia, I didn’t know you would be having dinner with us…” Sofia’s tone dripped with fake sweetness.
Arthur, who had been eating quietly, raised his head. His eyes darkened as the memory of Sofia’s cruel words earlier in the day rushed back to him.
Cassia said nothing. She kept eating, though her jaw tightened, fry simmering inside her. The thought of Aiden seeing her naked just a few minutes ago still burned her cheeks with humiliation and now, here he was, playing the sweet, attentive husband to his wife. The hypocrisy made her blood boil.
“Aiden, can you please serve me? My hands hurt…” Sofia’s voice was pitched higher, deliberately fragile, but her eyes never left Cassia.
“Sure,” Aiden muttered, taking her plate and serving her without hesitation.
Sofia began eating, but soon noticed James and Cassia sharing the same dish… their food was different from hers. Aiden hadn’t touched his at all. Just then, his phone rang. He glanced a the caller ID and excused himself, walking away.
“Why is my food different from yours?” Sofia asked, narrowing her eyes.
“Because Cassia prepared this,” James answered calmly. “The food you’re eating was prepared by the maids.”
Sofia hummed, staring down at her plate, then at Cassia’s. “And why are you eating her food and not the one I’m eating? Why is she even cooking separately? She lives here now, shouldn’t she eat the same food as the rest of us?”
Cassia’s hand curled into a fist under the table, nails biting into her palm.
James didn’t flinch. “Sofia, first of all, I don’t owe you an explanation for what I eat. Second, her food tastes better. The maids’ food tastes like shit. I don’t know how you choke it down.
Sofia’s head snapped toward him, eyes blazing. “Seriously? You’re the one with a rotten tongue. This food tastes fine.”
James rolled his eyes. “Oh please. You’re the one with no taste buds.”
“I’m your Luna, James. You should show me respect and speak to me as such.”
“Then act like a Luna if you want to be respected as one,” James hot back. “And considering you almost died today, maybe
should learn to keep your mouth shut more often.”

Sofia gasped, humiliated. She wasn’t surprised by James’s bluntness, he had always despised her but now, with Cassia present, the sting was sharper,
Just then, Aiden walked back into the room. Sofia turned, and in an instant, crocodile tears spilled from her eyes.
“I do everything I can as a Luna,” she cried, voice trembling. “And yet I’m never appreciated James disrespects me at every chance. What did I ever do to deserve this?”
James froze mid-bite, staring at her in disbelief. “Seriously?” he uttered under his breath.
“What’s going on here?” Aiden asked, his gaze flicking between em.

“It’s James,” Sofia sobbed. “He… he just loves stepping on me, making me feel worthless.”
Aiden sighed heavily. He and James exchanged a loaded look before he turned back to Sofia.

“It’s alright, Sofia,” Aiden said softly, his tone tender, protective. You should eat and stop crying. The doctor said you need
to rest.”
Cassia bit her inner lip so hard it almost bled. The softness in his voice, the gentle concern he showed Sofia was the same voice he used to use with her.
“I lost my appetite already. Can you just take me to my room?” Sofia pouted, leaning against Aiden.
“Fine. But first, drink your milk.” Aiden poured her a glass and handed it over. Sofia took it with trembling fingers, gulping it all down, then set the cup aside.
She lifted her arms toward him like a child. Without hesitation, e scooped her up in his arms and began carrying her away
“Can you sleep beside me tonight?” Sofia whispered seductively, gazing up at him with glistening eyes, loud enough for
Cassia to hear.
Aiden said nothing. His jaw tightened, but he didn’t respond.
As they disappeared upstairs, Arthur pushed away his plate. “I’m done,” he murmured, slipping off his chair and heading back toward the guest room.
Cassia sat frozen, her hands clenched, every nerve in her body streaming.
“Are you alright?” James asked gently, watching her closely.
“Yeah,” she lied, forcing a brittle smile. “I’m okay. Just… stressed from work.”
But she wasn’t okay. Not even close. Watching Aiden dote on Sofia, the same woman he had cheated with on her, while knowing he had also looked at her bare body earlier made her insides twist with rage and something she didn’t want to
name.
She clenched her fists under the table, nails digging into her palms, trying to fight the storm of emotions.
“Your food really does taste good,” James said softly as they both stood to clear the dishes.
Cassia gave him a faint smile, but her eyes betrayed her turmoil,
As they carried the dishes toward the kitchen, Aiden reappeared walking toward them. Cassia looked up and their eyes met just for a moment. Her heart stuttered, but she quickly looked away.
“Amelia… can we talk?” Aiden’s voice was low, urgent.
She ignored him, gathering the plates and walking straight into the kitchen without sparing him another glance.
James followed with his own dishes, but stopped midway, sensing the heat of the tension between them. He hesitated, then set the plates down elsewhere, giving them space.
Aiden followed her into the kitchen. The kitchen was empty, quit, heavy with the weight of what had just passed.
“Amelia,” he said, voice rough. “We need to talk. Please.”
“There’s nothing to talk about, Aiden.” Cassia’s voice was sharp, embling with restrained fury. “Go back to your wife. I’m sure she’s waiting for you in bed so you can play happy couple.
She turned to leave, but he caught her wrist gently, pulling her ck.

Their eyes locked. Time stilled. Heat surged between them, famiar and dangerous. Cassia’s breath caught, her heart stumbling as her wolf stirred violently inside her again.
She yanked her hand free. “Amelia, I…I’m sorry. I swear, I had no idea you were in the bathroom. I didn’t mean to…”
“You didn’t see anything, right?” she cut him off bitterly.
“I mean… I did.” He faltered, disorganized, words tangled in his throat. “Not much, I didn’t…I…”
She scoffed, shaking her head. “So you wanted to see more? Is that it? You have a wife, Aiden. What the hell do you want from me?” Her voice cracked, frustration bleeding through, her wolf clawing at her insides.
His answer came like a thunderclap.
“I want you.”
Cassia froze. The world seemed to stop spinning. Her wolf growled in response, urging her toward him, urging her to kiss him, to give in. She forced it back, shaking herself into reality.
“You have a wife,” she whispered, trembling. “And I’m married too.”
“Yes…i mean…” He stumbled, lost for words. “I didn’t mean that… I just…”
Cassia’s glare silenced him. She turned and stormed out, leaving him standing alone in the kitchen, undone.
Aiden growled in frustration, slamming his fist into the counter. The granite cracked under the force of his blow.
