Meanwhile, James, who sat by the dining table humming softly, ad heard Aiden and Cassia yelling in the kitchen. In a few minutes, Cassia stormed past, her face twisted with fury. Two mutes later, Aiden followed, his steps heavy, his jaw clenched, and dropped into one of the chairs at the dining table Rage still burned in his eyes.
“Hey…” James muttered carefully, testing the waters.
Aiden lifted his head and glared at him, his voice hoarse and raw
“I fucked up again. I don’t think she’s ever going to forgive me this time. I keep saying I want her forgiveness, but yet…I keep messing it all up. I let my wolf take control every time she’s near and I lose every bit of sense I have.” Guilt laced every word, heavy and bitter.
James arched a brow. “What did you do again this time?”
Aiden hesitated, running his tongue across his teeth before answering.
“Well… I slept off in the guest room with Arthur earlier.”
“What?!” James straightened, eyes narrowing. “You did what?”
“That’s not even the worst part.” Aiden’s voice cracked, his gaze dropping to the table.
James leaned forward, glaring. “Go on.”
“I woke up and heard running water. I didn’t know she was back. I went into the bathroom and… I saw her naked. And she caught me staring.”
James slammed his hand on the table, his voice sharp.
“Oh, my God, Aiden! What the hell were you thinking?”
“I know…i know!” Aiden groaned, raking a hand through his hair “I should’ve left the moment I saw her. But I stood there, frozen. My body went rigid. I wanted her. Every part of me wanted her, and I couldn’t control myself.” His voice dropped to a broken whisper. “I’m so fucked.”
James shook his head in disbelief.
“Do you have to screw up everything with your feelings? First that and then you walk into the dining room carrying Sofia in your arms like a newlywed groom, parading her in front of Amelia. Both of you acting lovey-dovey in her presence.” His voice hardened. “For God’s sake, Aiden, you’re married. Act like married man.”
“I am acting like one. I’m trying to!” Aiden growled, his wolf rising beneath his skin. He leaned forward, his hands trembling. “But when Amelia’s close, I feel vulnerable. I feel lost. I can’t control myself. Her scent, her damn sweet scent engulfs me until I’m crazy. I want her. I need her. I crave her with every fibe in me. And I can’t stop it. I can’t stop how I feel when she’s near. And it makes me feel stupid and vunerable. Like I’m losing my mind!”
James exhaled sharply and muttered, “Yeah, well…you should feel stupid.”
Aiden’s eyes darkened. “You’re making me feel worse, James.”
“You should feel worse!” James snapped. “Because you crossed the line, and you damn well know it.” His gaze was sharp, cutting like steel.
A tense silence hung between them, the air thick with anger and rustration.
Aiden cleared his throat, desperate to change the subject. “Any ws on the Dante guy?”

James’s gaze lingered on him before he finally answered. “No. Not yet. But they’re still searching.”
Before either could continue, a scream tore through the silence piercing the hallway.
Their eyes locked. And in the next heartbeat, both men bolted to their feet, rushing upstairs.

Meanwhile, Cassia, still fuming, was heading toward the guest room when faint whispers stopped her in her tracks. She paused, her body tense, torn between ignoring it and following the gnawing instinct that pushed her forward. Slowly, she stepped closer to the corner.
And there she was. Sofia, her back half-turned, her voice sharp and low as she whispered into her phone. Anger was etched into her face, her tone venomous.
“Why do you keep calling me? I already told you to leave me alone. You did a bad job, and yet you expect me to talk to you? You keep saying you want to see me. I’m not sleeping with you anymore.”
Cassia froze, her blood running cold. Her eyes widened.
Is she cheating on Aiden?
It wouldn’t surprise her. Even back in high school, Sofia had a reputation for chasing different men. But Cassia’s breath caught when she heard the name slip from Sofia’s lips.
“Dante.”
The name slammed into Cassia’s chest like a blade. Her mind snapped back seven years ago, back to the night she was ambushed. The sound of gunfire, the screech of tires, the driver lifeless body. And then, a man’s voice ringing in her ears as if it had just happened yesterday:
“Dante, let’s go. She’s already dead.”
Cassia’s vision blurred with rage. Her heart pounded, her jaw tightened. James had told her Aiden didn’t send those men…. that he was telling the truth. And now, she knew. It wasn’t Aiden. It was Sofia.
“Dante, leave me alone and stop calling this number,” Sofia hissel before ending the call. She turned only to find Cassia standing there, her fury burning like wildfire in her eyes.
Fear flashed in Sofia’s gaze. Her heart hammered against her chest, her stomach twisting. But within seconds, she masked it, straightening her shoulders and painting her lips with a smirk.
“Well, well. Look who’s here. Are you following me now?” Her tone dripped with mockery, a smirk that nearly pushed Cassia past sanity.
Cassia’s fists clenched at her sides, her chest heaving with rage.
“You bitch. It was you all along! It was you!”
She lunged forward, her fist connecting hard with Sofia’s face. Selia screamed as Cassia grabbed her hair, yanking her head back viciously.
“You tried to kill me!” Cassia roared, her voice breaking as she punched her again, shoving her to the ground. Sofia yelped in pain, her phone clattering to the floor.
Cassia raised her fist again, ready to strike, but Aiden’s arms suddenly wrapped around her from behind, pulling her back.
“What the hell is going on here?” Aiden barked, his grip firm as assia thrashed against him, desperate to break free.
“You should ask your beloved wife!” Cassia spat, wrenching herself from his hold.

Sofia clutched her check, trembling, her eyes darting. “I don’t know what she means. I was minding my own business when she attacked me!”
“Really?” Cassia’s voice shook with rage. “You liar! You sent those men after me, you tried to kill me and my baby!” Her voice cracked as tears threatened to spill.
“What?” Aiden and James’s voices collided in unison, shock cutting through them.
“You must be insane,” Sofia snapped, dusting her dress, trying to regain composure. “I was here, in this house, when she was ambushed. How the hell would I have anything to do with it?”
Cassia’s eyes blazed. “Still lying? Don’t you have any shame?” She stepped forward, her voice sharp as glass. “Then why don’t you tell them who the hell Dante is? Go on. Tell them! You were here at home busy sending your dogs after me. Dante was one of them, wasn’t he?”
“Dante?” Aiden and James repeated in chorus again, their eyes widening as they turned back to Sofia, shock etched deep into
their faces.
