“Dante?” Aiden and James voiced out in chorus again, shock flasing across their faces as they turned sharply back to Sofia.
Sofia froze for the briefest second, then forced out a nervous laugh, high-pitched, the kind that sounded more like a crack than amusement.
“Is it true? Do you know Dante?” Aiden asked, his voice tight, his teeth clenched as if holding back a growl. His gaze pinned her in place.
“What the hell? Don’t tell me you’re actually believing this woman’s madness. I don’t even know who the hell Dante is. I’ve never heard that name before in my life…” she said quickly, and in her panic she stepped forward, her heel pressing hard on her phone. The crack of glass echoed as she ground it beneath her foot. Then, casually, she stepped back.
Cassia’s eyes
widened in fury. “You liar! How can you still lie when you’ve been caught red-handed? Who knows if you were also the one who poisoned my daughter. How can you be so heartless?” she hissed, her jaw tight as her nails bit into her palms. She lunged toward Sofia again, but Aiden caught her by the waist, pulling her back before she could strike.
“Let me go!” Cassia snapped, her body trembling with rage. She ipped herself away from Aiden’s touch and then turned, her blazing eyes locking on Sofia’s phone.
“Why don’t you check her phone? See the last number she called If you still think I’m lying,” Cassia spat, her voice shaking with fury. Veins bulged at her temple, her body vibrating with restrained violence.
“Go on, check it. You’ll find nothing,” Sofia sneered, gesturing dramatically toward the phone.
James bent down, picking it up from the floor. The screen was shattered, spiderweb cracks spreading across it. He pressed the button, but the screen stayed dark.
“The phone’s broken,” he muttered, frowning.
Sofia snatched it from his hand immediately, feigning wide-eyed despair. “You see? She broke my phone herself and now accuses me of crimes I never committed. And you all believe he over me? I’m your wife, Aiden. Your wife. You’re supposed to trust me!” Her voice cracked as fake tears slid down her cheeks.
She turned with a pitiful sob, clutching the phone to her chest, and stormed off down the hall, retreating into her room.
Cassia let out a harsh laugh filled with disbelief and venom. “You’re just going to let her walk away like that? She tried to kill me! If you won’t do something, I will take matters into my own hands!” She moved to storm after Sofia, but Aiden’s hand closed firmly around her arm, holding her back.
“You can’t,” he said sharply. “You can’t accuse her without proof.
Cassia’s head snapped toward him, her eyes burning with betray. “So now I’m a liar in your eyes?”
“Amelia, I didn’t say that…”
“Yes, you did,” she cut in, shaking her head. Her glare sliced through him like a blade, her voice dripping with venom.
“You have always been a worthless Alpha. Even when the truth ss right in your face, you turn a blind eyes towards it. As always”
Aiden’s chest heaved. “What do you want me to do, Amelia? I’m ying. I’m doing everything I can to find Eva’s killer and get justice…”
“Well you’re not trying hard enough!” she snapped, her voice baking. “If you truly wanted justice, you should have fought for it seven years ago. But you didn’t. You were too busy marrying that good-for-nothing snake who’s been trying to kill me ever since. Every time she manipulates you with her crocodile tears, you fold. You always fold.”

“Amelia, she’s my wife,” Aiden said, his voice rough, as if the words themselves were acid on his tongue. “I can’t just kill her on the back of your accusations, not without proof.”
Cassia’s laugh was bitter and hollow, like glass breaking. “There is again. ‘She’s my wife. You were quick to remember she’s your wife yet where was that loyalty when you cheated on me with her?” Her voice cracked, pain bleeding through every syllable. “Don’t be surprised when you discover she’s cheating on you too. That’s what you deserve.”
She turned to leave, but Aiden caught her wrist and pulled her back, his hand gripping her waist tightly as their eyes locked. For a moment, the air thickened between them, their ragged breaths mingling.
“I never cheated on you, Amelia,” Aiden said, his voice raw, eyes lazing with a painful sincerity. “Not once. I never even looked at another woman while I had you.”
For a fraction of a second, her chest tightened, almost believing him. Almost. But then the reality slammed into her…his marriage, his child with Sofia they were proof he did.
Her lip curled, hatred swirling like poison in her veins. “So the child you and Sofia had together just fell from the sky, right? You’ll never change, Aiden. All you do is lie. Lie. Lie. Damn you, hate you.” She shoved him back with both hands, the venom in her words cutting deeper than claws, before storming way.
Aiden’s growl ripped through the hall as his fist slammed into the wall, the crack of impact echoing through the house. His knuckles bled against the plaster. He turned, breathing heavily, and found James staring at him, unreadable.
“Do you believe her?” James asked, his voice low, breaking the silence.
Aiden’s chest heaved as he met his beta’s gaze. “Amelia? I don’t see the reason she’d lie about this. So yes. I believe her.” He paused, raking his hand down his face. “But Dante… if he’s really connected to Sofia…”
“So you think she’s working with him?” James pressed.
Aiden shook his head, frustrated. “I don’t know what to think anymore, James. That woman is breaking me apart. But… that lady at the car stand, she said someone from the Alpha’s family was backing Dante. And now Amelia is saying Sofia called him? The pieces fit too perfectly.”
He exhaled sharply, his voice dropping. “I want you to keep an eye on Sofia. Watch her every move. If I can get my hands on that phone, I’ll go through it.”
“But it’s broken…”
“She’ll want it fixed,” Aiden said firmly.
James nodded grimly. He had always suspected Sofia, her sudde reappearance, the trail of chaos that followed her. Now, everything was starting to make sense. Cassia’s rage, her accusations…it wasn’t madness. It was the truth. He believes her.
He clenched his jaw. He needed to speak to Cassia, find out what else she knew. If they worked together, maybe they could finally expose Sofia.
Meanwhile, in her room, Sofia leaned against the door, her chest heaving as her pulse raced. She pressed a trembling hand to her heart, her breaths coming shallow and fast.
Cassia had nearly caught her today. Nearly exposed her. Thank the Moon she had crushed her phone before anyone could see the evidence inside it. If Aiden had seen, he would have ripped her throat out without hesitation.
“How could I be so careless? Not realizing she was watching…” Sa muttered to herself, her thoughts spinning “Is that why she came back? To spy on me?”
She staggered toward the bed and sat down heavily, running a hand through her tangled hair. Today she had slipped through by a thread. Tomorrow she might not be so lucky.

Her jaw tightened, eyes narrowing with cold resolve. She couldr risk waiting anymore. Amelia and that brat Arthur needed to be dealt with, once and for all before the truth came out.
She quickly pulled open her wardrobe, shoving the shattered plone deep into a hidden compartment. That phone was her greatest weakness, the one thing that could destroy everything. anyone got hold of it, she was finished.
“No one can touch this,” she whispered to herself, her lips curling into a twisted smile.
