**Chapter 112: Complain**
Oriana found herself at a loss for words, completely taken aback by Zara’s intense reaction. She had anticipated some level of concern, but not this fervent response.
In the past, during her relationship with Grant, Zara had been a staunch opponent of their union, voicing her disapproval at every turn.
Yet now, the way she regarded Micah was a stark contrast, filled with an unexpected enthusiasm.
“Okay, okay, maybe I’m just overthinking everything,” Oriana said, trying to calm the storm brewing in Zara. “You need to take a deep breath. Getting angry isn’t going to do you any good.”
“Hmph!” Zara crossed her arms, her expression a mix of frustration and disbelief. “I honestly don’t understand you. You were head over heels for Grant, chasing him like he was the last lifeboat on a sinking ship. Now this guy is showering you with affection, and you’re hesitating like it’s a life-or-death decision?”
Oriana let out a soft, almost defeated sigh, the weight of her thoughts pressing down on her. “Zara, it’s not hesitation… it’s fear. I’m terrified of falling into the same traps I did before.”
“Absolutely not! Grant was nothing but trash. Your husband from that flash marriage? He’s a completely different story,” Zara insisted, her tone firm.
“No, I mean I’m the one who might end up repeating the same mistakes,” Oriana clarified, her voice dropping to a whisper as the gravity of her thoughts settled in.
These were concerns she had pondered deeply, and they were not easily brushed aside.
“Back then, perhaps Grant’s feelings for me weren’t rooted in love, but rather in dependency and habit… and now I worry that maybe Micah has become that for me too.
“I fear that my feelings for Micah are tangled with gratitude. If I accept something based on that, doesn’t it feel like a deception? Doesn’t that make me just as bad as Grant was to me?”
“Listen, there’s a massive difference between you and him. You’re a genuinely good person—don’t you dare compare yourself to that bastard,” Zara said emphatically, her fist clenched as she gestured animatedly at the screen.
Yet, even in her frustration, Zara understood Oriana’s perspective.
Oriana had always been the type to overanalyze, to care deeply about those around her; it was no surprise she was wrestling with these feelings.
“So, what’s going through your mind now?” Zara asked, her voice softening, sensing the conflict within her friend.
“Now? I think I’ve made some progress,” Oriana replied, a flicker of hope illuminating her features.
A radiant smile broke across Oriana’s face. “Thank you, Zara. You’ve helped me gain clarity. I was ensnaring myself in my own thoughts, taking everything Micah does for granted without truly confronting my own emotions.”
She paused, inhaling deeply, feeling the weight of her admission settle around her.
She spoke to Zara, but it was also a revelation she was finally sharing with herself.
“Micah stirs something within me… but he also makes my heart race in a way I haven’t felt in a long time.”
Zara stared at her for a moment, her expression shifting from shock to mock anger before breaking into a wide grin.
“You dramatic tease! You nearly gave me a heart attack! See? This is why you need me around—I keep your head straight!”
“Yes, I really owe you,” Oriana replied earnestly, gratitude shining in her eyes. “Thanks, Zara. I’m truly grateful to have you in my life.”
Just moments earlier, Zara had been fiery and fierce; now, she was beaming, her demeanor reminiscent of a giddy schoolgirl.
“You’re talking about… Luna and the others?” Oriana asked, her curiosity piqued.
“Yeah,” he confirmed, his expression serious yet soft.
Oriana took a bite of the egg sandwich, savoring the flavors.
Micah’s culinary skills had truly evolved; he had mastered the art of timing and technique.
The eggs were cooked to perfection—soft, silky, and devoid of any unpleasant eggy scent.
A smile crept onto her lips as she spoke, “They might not be fond of me, and honestly, they’d probably prefer not to see me at all. But too bad for them.”
Oriana joked, her spirits lifted. “Besides, having them around might just make those dull training days… a bit more entertaining?”
“Entertaining?” Micah echoed, his brow furrowing in contemplation. After a moment, he nodded slowly. “If it makes you happy, then let them stay.”
Oriana was slightly taken aback. “Hmm? What did you just say?”
“Nothing. Just finish your meal and take a moment to relax before we head out. We still have time,” he instructed gently.
“Okay,” she replied, her heart fluttering with anticipation.
The first day of training was set to commence at the affiliated hospital of Jindiwood University Medical College, and Oriana was ready to embrace whatever lay ahead.
