Bryan still looked uneasy. “I heard from Zachary that Cormac’s pretty influential. We’ve really angered him this time… I’m worried it might affect Oriana’s future opportunities.”
In front of others, they had naturally that humiliation alone. It would have been too painful, too unfair.
tood firmly by Oriana’s side–they couldn’t let her face
But now, in private, their worry returned.
They had come all this way to visit her, and instead of helping, they’d made an enemy for her. Looking back, it felt like they might have done more harm than good.
Oriana’s gaze softened. “Don’t worry. I’ll just focus on doing my job well. If I perform as I should, he won’t have any chance to hold it against me.”
Bryan hesitated. “But…”
William cut him off with a grin. “Sir, don’t worry. If anyone dares to pick on my student, I’ll be the first to curse them six ways to Sunday. Cormac wants to make things hard for Oriana? Not a chance.”
He patted his broad chest confidently. “Leave it to me–I’ll take care of Oriana.”
Seeing William’s assured, energetic demeanor, the two men finally relaxed a little and exchanged a smile. “Yes–we believe in you, Mr. Harris.”
At the same time, though, they silently vowed to themselves. No matter who or what they faced, if anyone dared to target their niece, they would protect her with everything they had.
They didn’t linger much longer and soon took their leave.
Oriana, though she wasn’t on duty that day, decided to stay behind in William’s office. Since she was already there, she opened her notes and began researching ideas for her draft.
As they walked away, Bryan suddenly recalled something. “By the way, Alberto mentioned that the little boy the captain saved with his life that elementary school student–he’s part of the MDT now, isn’t he? Maybe we should go talk to him about Oriana…”
Randolph’s expression darkened immediately. He clearly didn’t agree.
“Niall never asked for anything in return for saving people,” Randolph said firmly. “If we go against his principles now, how could his spirit ever rest in peace?”
Bryan froze, realizing his blunder. “You’re right. I almost made a huge mistake.”

To seek out Leo just to repay a favor would be like cheapening Niall’s selflessness. It would turn gratitude into opportunism.
And if he ever did such a thing, his conscience would never let him rest–and Niall would surely be disappointed.
Bryan shuddered at the thought. “Forget it. Let’s just head back.”

Without realizing it, evening had fallen.
Oriana had spent some time discussing her draft ideas with William before packing up to leave.‘
Since she had come on a whim, she didn’t want to bother Kieran for a ride and decided to take a taxi instead.
Just outside the school gate, a faint scent of wood drifted through the cool air.
She turned her head and noticed a small roadside stall displaying rows of delicate, hand- carved trinkets.
Her curiosity stirred, and she wandered closer.
Among the items, a pair of bracelets immediately caught her eye–one was a slender chain of small, polished beads, clearly designed for a woman’s wrist; the other was made of larger beads, simple yet bold, suited for a man.
For some reason, Oriana thought it would look good against Micah’s wrist.
The stall owner, a white–haired old woman, noticed her interest and smiled kindly.
“My dear,” she said, “the designs symbolize health and happiness. If your heart’s drawn to them, it means they were destined for you.”
Health and happiness. The words felt fitting–just what she needed most these days.
As she lingered on the thought, she remembered Micah’s half–joking complaints about wanting to buy couple’s accessories, how she had kept putting it off because of work, and how he’d taken to making small trinkets by hand instead.
Thinking of Micah, who was waiting for her at home, Oriana’s expression softened, her heart blooming with quiet warmth.
“Alright,” she said with a gentle smile. “I’ll take these two bracelets.”

The old woman wrapped them carefully and added kindly, “If you find them too plain, you can always add some decorative beads. It’ll make them more personal.”
