Oriana’s good mood was impossible to miss when she arrived home. Even Chubby, who was waiting loyally by the door, immediately picked up on it. “Oriana’s happiness level is at 200%!” he announced gleefully.
Oriana almost dropped her shoe in surprise. “200%? Isn’t that a bit of an exaggeration?”
Just then, Micah stepped out of the study, his phone still in hand–it seemed he had just finished a call.
“What’s got you so happy?” he asked, his tone curious but gentle.
Oriana beamed. “Zara’s coming to Jindiwood! She’ll be here around midnight to spend the New Year with me.”
“Is that so?”
A faint smile curved Micah’s lips, the kind that softened his usually composed features. “Is she coming alone?”
“Yes, just her.”
Micah thought for a moment, then said, “I’ll have Kieran get the guest room ready for her.” Oriana blinked in surprise. “Really? But… you usually don’t like having guests over.”
“I don’t like strangers,” Micah replied, taking her hand in his. His deep, steady gaze was filled with quiet affection.
“But she’s your good friend–the one who looked out for you at Seabar. As your husband, I should be the one thanking her.”
Though Micah had never been especially close to Zara, he knew a great deal about her.
In both lifetimes, Zara’s loyalty and care for Oriana had been unwavering–almost equal to
his own.
In their previous life, after Oriana’s death, Zara had gone to Grant to demand justice, asking for his life in exchange for hers.
But by then, Grant’s career had already taken off He was no longer the impoverished young man he once was. Zara hadn’t even been able to get close to him–she’d been shoved aside by his bodyguards, her fury and grief swallowed by the cold, untouchable wall of his success.
She had fought and struggled again and again, each time ending up hurt–bruised in body

And in the end, she still couldn’t change a thing.

The memories flickered through her mind–Grant’s cold, mocking smile, Luna’s disdainful eyes, and that fleeting, ruthless glint that had once flashed across Micah’s own gaze.
Oriana, unaware of his shifting emotions, simply wrapped her arms around him, resting her chin against his chest. Her voice was soft, almost wistful. “Micah, you’re so good to me.”
Micah’s arm circled her waist, his other hand gently stroking her sleek hair. “I’m only good to you,” he murmured.
No matter how many times he said it, those words always melted straight into her heart like honey.
His palm was warm and steady–dry against her skin–and Oriana closed her eyes, sinking comfortably into his embrace.
After a quiet moment, she remembered. “Who were you talking to on the phone just now?”
“It was Grandpa,” Micah said simply.
“He wanted to know how long your holiday lasts, and whether you have time to stay at Caldwell Estate for a few days.”
“I have about ten days off for the New Year,” Oriana replied. “Staying at Caldwell Estate sounds nice–it’ll be good to spend some time with the elders.”
Since she had accepted Xander as her grandfather, she naturally included him among the family elders now.
Micah nodded. “Alright, I’ll let him know. We’ll stay for three days.”
Oriana tilted her head up from his chest, puzzled. Her clear eyes searched his face. “Three days? But I have a long holiday–why not stay a bit longer?”
Micah’s tone was serious, his gaze intent. “The rest,” he said quietly, “is for our time–just the two of us.”
Oriana hesitated, a question rising to her lips–and what about Zara, the guest you just invited to stay?

Zara finally arrived at Jindiwood Airport. After collecting her two oversized suitcases, she met the driver sent to pick her up and headed straight to the hotel.
Once she’d checked in, she followed the bellhop down the corridor at a relaxed pace, planning to call Oriana for a quick video chat.
But when she glanced at the time, she reconsidered and canceled the idea.
“It’s already so late,” she muttered with a laugh. “Better not interrupt their nightlife.”
The bellhop, walking a few steps ahead, only caught part of her sentence and turned around politely. “Excuse me, miss–were you asking about nightlife around here?”
Zara blinked, about to say no, but then paused, a mischievous smile forming on her lips. “Well, now that you mention it… what’s fun to do in Jindiwood at night?”
The bellhop grinned. “Plenty of fun, miss. But the most exciting place after dark has to be Velvet Midnight.”
“Velvet Midnight?” Zara repeated, intrigued.
“Yes, miss. If you enjoy a drink, that’s the place to go. They’ve got the widest collection of wines and spirits in the country–even some rare imports you can’t find anywhere else.”
Drinking? Now that was her language.
Zara snapped her fingers. “Perfect. That’s exactly where I’m going tonight.”
Impulsive as ever, she didn’t hesitate.
After dropping off her luggage, she slipped into a sparkling little black dress, stepped into a pair of high heels, and headed straight for Velvet Midnight.
The bar was lively and dazzling when she arrived–a sea of music, laughter, and shimmering lights. Zara felt her energy rise instantly.
She made a beeline for the counter, scanning the menu like a pro.
At Seabar, she’d always been kept in check by her elders, never allowed to truly let loose.
But here? In Jindiwood? She was free–and she intended to enjoy every second of it.
“Grüner Veltliner, Scotch Independent Grain, and… hmm, give me one of each,” she told the bartender with a grin.
He raised an impressed brow. Most people didnt even know half those drinks existed–but they had every single one in stock.

No wonder, she thought as her first glass arrived–Jindiwood really was a city of luxury and temptation.
After a few rounds, she was glowing–her already bright face now radiant with delight. Her laughter was infectious, drawing attention from every corner of the bar. Before long, a few men started approaching her, eager to strike up a conversation.
