Clara, undeterred, glided toward him again, her perfume thick in the air.

Kenny was just about to shove her away when he caught a flicker of black at the edge of his vision. In an instant, alarm bells went off in his head.
“What the hell did you put in my drink?” he snapped.
“Mr. Caldwell,” Clara purred, her voice dripping with honey, “I like you. Let me take care of you tonight…”
Her hand slid slowly up his arm.
Kenny tried to push her off, but his body betrayed him–his limbs felt heavy, his muscles weak. Panic flickered in his eyes.
“Get the hell away from me!” he growled.
His anger only seemed to excite her further. Clara pressed closer, eyes gleaming, forcing herself against him.
Rage boiled in Kenny’s chest. He couldn’t believe someone had the nerve to drug him. Then, out of nowhere, a cool, unbothered voice cut through the chaos.
“Didn’t you hear him? He told you to get lost.”
Before Kenny could react, someone yanked him away–like plucking up a stray cat.
Blinking, he found himself braced against a woman half a head shorter than him.
He squinted, trying to focus, and then recognition dawned.
Wait… She was Oriana’s friend!
Zara caught his dazed, indignant glare and felt a flash of irritation.
Ungrateful bastard!
Still, for Oriana’s sake, she swallowed the urge to toss him aside.
Clara, furious that her prey had slipped away, turned her glare on Zara. “You again? What’s your problem? Do you even know where you are-
“I know. Your turf.”

Zara picked at her ear. “So what? You were about to drug a guy in front of everyone. Should I call the cops and have this place shut down?”
Zara gave Kenny a couple of firm shakes. “Get him tested for drugs. They’ll definitely find something,” she muttered.
Clara was stunned.
Kenny barely responded, still looking disoriented.
Clara, meanwhile, lingered nearby, clearly unwilling to give up. Zara’s voice turned cold. “Still here? Leave. Now.”
Clara ‘shot her a venomous glare. “You’d better pray you never fall into my hands,” she hissed before finally stalking off, heels clicking sharply against the floor.
Zara watched her retreat, then looked down at Kenny, who was still slumped and dazed. “No need to thank me,” she said dryly. “But if you insist, you can wire me a few million.”
Kenny’s eyes narrowed. “Do I look that stupid to you?”
Zara smirked, “Hey, saving your virtue isn’t cheap. It could fetch quite a price.”
Kenny was speechless.
When he didn’t respond, her amusement faded. Forget it, if you’re that stingy.”
She released her hold, and Kenny dropped back onto the leather sofa with a thud, groaning as the impact churned his stomach.
When he looked up, he noticed Clara hadn’t gone far–she was still watching him from across the room, her gaze predatory. A chill ran down his spine. Suddenly, self–preservation kicked in. “Yes, fine! I’ll pay you!” he blurted. “Just get me out of here!”
Zara arched a brow. Free gossip and an easy payday?
Not bad for one night.
“This is your request, then,” she said with a smile.
“Yes, yes, I’m begging you!” Kenny growled through clenched teeth.
Still smiling, Zara grabbed him by the arm. With one hand, she lifted the half–conscious man as if he weighed nothing. Without the slightest hint of pity for the handsome man, she dragged him out of Velvet Midnight and into the night.
Kenny stared in disbelief at Zara’s arm–her bicep was smaller than his wrist–yet somehow.

Outside Velvet Midnight, the street was chaos: honking cars, flashing lights, and drunken laughter spilling from every direction. It took Zara a good while before she finally flagged down a cab.
She shoved the half–conscious Kenny into the back seat and was about to ask for his address when, to her exasperation, he slumped over completely–fast asleep.
Rolling her eyes, she pushed him further inside and climbed in after him. “Alston Grand, please,” she told the driver.

The next morning.
Soft sunlight crept through the floor–to–ceiling windows, spilling across the sleek interior of a luxury suite. Kenny stirred, groaning, and blinked at the panoramic view of half of Jindiwood glittering beneath him.
He smacked his dry lips and turned his head–only for a faint floral scent, mixed with the lingering tang of alcohol, to hit him square in the nose.
He frowned, opened his eyes wider–and froze.
“What the hell?”
Kenny bolted upright–then immediately toppled off the bed, landing on the floor with a heavy thud.
It was only then he realized he was completely naked–except for a pair of pink boxer briefs printed with little cartoon panthers.
His handsome face went through an entire spectrum of color–red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple–before settling on a deep, murderous shade of black.
“Ugh, what’s with all the noise? It’s too early…”
The commotion had woken Zara.
Still half–asleep, she tugged the blanket over her chest and glared at the source of the racket. Then, seeing Kenny standing there, flustered and fuming, she rubbed her eyes and groaned.
Kenny’s jaw clenched, fury flashing across his face. “You… You tricked me!” he shouted.
Zara blinked, irritated. “What are you talking about? Tricked you into what?”

It was barely morning, and she just wanted to sleep in peace!
“Keep pretending. You’re good at it!” Kenny raged, cursing continuously.
“I shouldn’t have trusted you. Just as I thought, everyone around Oriana is the same. Pretending to be good, but scheming behind our backs to trap men!”
Thinking about how his twenty–plus years of innocence had been taken away by a woman, Kenny’s anger shot through the roof.
“I get it now. Oriana sent you to get close to me, didn’t she? Knowing I don’t like her, she wants you to whisper sweet nothings in my ear? Dream on! I’m not like my brother. Don’t think you can manipulate me like this! I’d rather die than admit she’s worthy of being my sister–in–law!”
