Ortana shook her head, but then something came to her mind, and worry clouded her face “You went to find Grant? Did he hurt you?”
As she spoke, she reached out to check Micah’s arms and shoulders.
Micah let out a low, teasing laugh. His voice brushed her ear, rough and magnetic. “If you really want to know whether I’m hurt, vou already checked this morning.”
Oriana’s ears turned red. “I did not.”
He lifted an eyebrow. “You can check now if you want.”
He started to lift his shirt.
The lines of his waist and abs came into view before Oriana hurriedly pulled his hands back down.
“Ahem, no need. I believe you’re fine.”
Knowing him, if he were actually hurt, he would have hidden it completely instead of showing it to her without hesitation.
Her eyes fell on the bracelet, and a smile curved her lips. “I really like these two rubies. If I had lost them, I would have been heartbroken.”
“Good thing you got it back,” she added.
She took the bracelet from him, cleaned it carefully with a disinfecting wipe, and fastened it around his wrist herself.
She turned his wrist and admired it, eyes shining. “It looks good.”
Micah smiled gently. “Yeah.”
“Next time something like this happens, don’t keep it to yourself. Let me know.”
“All right,” Micah said.
“And stop believing Grant’s nonsense. I will never look at him again,” Oriana added.
“Okay.”
Seeing that she was no longer angry, Micah felt relaxed. He pulled her into his arms, holding her against his heartbeat.
His chin brushed over her hair. “Honey, I’m sorry about Pebble. If I had brought her back earlier, maybe you could have seen her one last time.”
Oriana blinked, her nose tingling. “I know. You gathered that team of veterinarians to save her life.”

She continued, “Micah, I’m not really angry. You and those doctors helped Pebble live peacefully for her last year. I should thank you for that.”
Her voice softened. “I just want you to know that I’m stronger than you think. What happened to Pebble, and maybe not just Pebble, I can handle it.”
Micah was clever enough to catch her real meaning.
He pressed his lips and tightened his arms around her without answering.
Oriana felt his quiet avoidance and didn’t press further. She closed her eyes and listened to the steady rhythm of his heartbeat.
That evening, after the summit ended, Grant went out for dinner with several international AI specialists.
He was in high spirits at first, laughing and drinking freely. But halfway through, he received a voice message.
When he played it, Oriana’s furious voice filled the room, scolding him for harassing Micah and warning him to stay away. Grant’s expression darkened immediately.
When someone offered him another drink, he accepted without a word and emptied one bottle after another.
Alaric grew nervous, smiling awkwardly to the others while trying to pull Grant aside.
“Grant, what’s going on? You were fine a minute ago.”
“Leave me alone.”
Grant shoved him away and kept drinking.
When dinner ended, the group decided to move to another place.
Alaric had to go along, but he was worried about Grant and called Luna to come help.
By the time Luna arrived, Grant was already unconscious.
“How could you let him drink this much? Are you brainless?” she snapped at Alaric, glaring at him.
Grant’s face was red, the color spreading down his neck. Luna’s anger faded into worry as she shot Alaric a cold look.
Alaric’s smile was empty. “My fault. Thanks for coming. Take care of him tonight. I still have to entertain the guests.”
Luna ignored him and helped Grant out of the room.
The moment they left, Alaric’s smirk disappeared. One of his men muttered, “That woman’s got a big
