Look at that. His grandson had a wife who could him would dare to bully him again?
Micah was surprised. He had not expected Oria

She looked soft and gentle, but every spoke was sharp enough to draw blood.
A smile tugged at his lips. He stepped beside her and said clearly enough for the entire hall to hear, his voice steady and elegant, “No. I have never had any contact with these relatives, and I have no need to. There is no reason to remember people who are irrelevant.”
“You-”
Lyla’s face turned green. Layers of heavy powder fell from her wrinkles as her expression twisted.
She looked ready to lash out, but Micah cast her a single glance. His eyes were cold and distant, unfocused as if he was not truly looking at her at all.
Yet within that emptiness lay a chill so sharp it froze the air.
Lyla almost forgot that Micah’s mildness came from restraint. She had nearly forgotten the boy who, at seven years old, had broken another child’s wrist simply because they hit him on the head.
He was ruthless and unreadable.
Her heart thudded painfully, and she clutched her chest, darting a pleading look toward Noah for help.
But Noah, who had been silent the entire time, had a faint, satisfied smile in his eyes, clearly indulging Micah and Oriana’s defiance.
Lyla’s mind reeled. If she could not understand Noah’s intentions by now, then decades of siblinghood had
gone to waste.
When the fiercest of them fell silent, the rest finally understood.
One by one, their faces drained from pale to gray. A faint dread crept into their hearts, and they quietly pulled their children back, no longer daring to utter another word.
The sight filled Noah with deep satisfaction.
Oriana had lived up to his expectations.
Still, it was a holiday, and he could not let things grow too ugly. So, Noah took the initiative to ease the tension. “All right, that’s enough. Afternoon tea is ready. Come sit down, everyone. Oriana, come here, my dear. I had them make strawberry yogurt Basque cheesecake just for you. Try it.”
Oriana led Micah to the seats beside Noah. “Thank you.”

Then, she took a small bite of the dessert.
It was sweet and tart, chilled and smooth, instantly lifting her mood.
Her eyes sparkled as she scooped another bite and held it to Micah’s lips.
When she looked up, his smile was already spreading wide across his face.
Oriana laughed softly. “Are you really that happy?”
“I am.”

Pride gleamed across his handsome features. “My wife just made her debut, and no one will dare talk down to us again.”
Oriana fed him the spoonful of cake. “I only borrowed some of your and your grandfather’s authority.”
Otherwise, those people wouldn’t have backed down so easily.
Micah took a small taste and said, “You eat it. I don’t want any more.”
“You don’t like it?”
“You do. So have some more,” he said.
Oriana blinked, then smiled, her eyes curving. “Okay.”
From the side, Kenny watched them from his armchair.
He held it in for a while, but in the end he called a servant over. “Bring me some digestive pills.”
The servant looked puzzled. “But sir, you haven’t eaten anything since last night.”
Kenny gave a dry laugh. “Who needs food when I’m fed up with their cheesy romance?”
After afternoon tea, Oriana and Micah went upstairs to their bedroom for a rest.
They had been busy for days and had not returned in quite some time. The room had been redecorated since their last visit.
The dark tones had been replaced with soft, bright colors. The tall pine tree outside that blocked half the window had been moved, letting in more light.
The most noticeable change was the new sofa bed added under the window, making the space beside it
narrower.
