The four of theni sat around an expensive wooden table, cach with a small fondue in front of them.
The melting cheese inside them was tempting, and there were other dishes made by fresh ingredients. from all over the world, so fragrant that it made one’s mouth water.
Oriana ate to her heart’s content and finished the meal with a plate of lemon pudding, its faint sourness lingering between her lips.
After dinner, she presented the gifts she had brought for Noah: a set of warm thermal underwear, comfortable shoes, and socks.
Noah’s heart filled with warmth. “Good, you’re so thoughtful. I’ll wear them tomorrow.”
He caught sight of another package beside her that looked similar. “Is that one for Xander?”
Oriana nodded. “Yes. Would it disturb him if I go over now?”
“Wait until he returns,” Noah said. “He’s been attending the celebration these days.”
Oriana nodded again. “All right, then I’ll keep it for now.”
Noah chuckled and reached into his pocket, pulling out two envelopes. “One for you, Oriana, and one for Micah. That boy never spends money anyway, so you keep his.”
Oriana couldn’t help laughing. His phrasing was exactly like Micah’s.
Of course, she didn’t refuse a blessing from an elder. She accepted the envelopes with both hands and sweetly wished Noah good health and happiness.
Kenny, meanwhile, was half–heartedly responding to his parents‘ messages telling him to behave himself and impress his grandfather.
At the mention of money, his head snapped up. He ran straight to Noah, holding out both hands. “Grandpa, what about mine?”
Noah gave him a look of mock annoyance. “What are you so anxious for, you brat?”
Seeing Kenny’s eager expression, Noah pulled another envelope from his other pocket and slapped it into his palm. “Don’t blow through it all in one day again.”
Kenny grinned. “Thank you, Grandpa! You’re the best!”
He practically bounced away to open it.
Inside was a few bills, clearly ten grand.
Peeking toward Oriana, he noticed her envelope looked thin in comparison. Delighted, he smirked to himself.

Oriana stayed with the old man for a round of chess, and by ten o’clock he could no longer stay up, so he went to bed first.
Oriana followed upstairs, changed out of her outerwear, and decided to use the quiet time to work on her thesis.
She had to submit her first draft by the seventh day of the new year, so she needed to organize her notes and gather more refereifces before she could start writing.
Just as she opened her laptop, a video call from Zara came through.
Oriana answered, and Zara’s bright voice filled the room. “Oriana, did you go to the Caldwell Estate?”
“Yes, we arrived this afternoon.”
Oriana turned the camera around, knowing Zara would be curious, and gave her a quick tour of the place.
When the screen showed the garden beyond the courtyard, Zara let out a long gasp. “Oh my god. That whole garden is yours?”
Oriana nodded. “Yes.”
She explained about the underground heating, and Zara’s reaction was exactly what she expected. “That’s insane. Filthy rich!”
Oriana smiled helplessly, closed the window, and sat down on the sofa bed.
The two envelopes in her pocket slipped out; she nearly forgot about them.
“Wait, you already got them? Show me; let’s see how much you got!” Zara’s eyes gleamed with excitement.
Oriana laughed and started to open one.
In Seabar, the southern city where she grew up, juniors would only receive a few coins for good luck. Since Noah’s envelope felt thin, Oriana assumed it would be about the same.
But the moment she opened it, a check fluttered out.
Zara nearly pressed her face against the screen. “One, two, three, four, five, six, seven… What the hell? That many zeros? I’ve only seen that in novels!”
Oriana was speechless.
She herself was stunned.
She never expected Noah’s red envelope to be so extravagant. This wasn’t pocket money; it was ten million, enough to buy a home in Jindiwood or acquire a small company outright.
