“And Luna, you better be prepared! Once you snag a top spot in the review, your boyfriend will definitely give you more new jewelry.”
“Of course! I just heard Mr. Flint laughing earlier; he was really praising Luna’s paper!”
“Oh my god, beautiful, rich, and talented? Luna, you’re way too perfect, it’s enviable!”
“Luna, you have to treat us to a meal if you win a ranking!”
“Alright, I’ll take you all to Refe House tonight.”
“Wow! Luna, you’re the best!”
Luna basked in the flattery, giggling continuously. She turned her head casually and spotted Oriana at the door. “Oriana, you’re here,” she said with a smile.
Pushing the door open, Oriana walked straight in without glancing around, heading directly to her own locker to change.
The other interns who were hyping up Luna, aware of their competitive relationship now, let their eyes dart curiously over Oriana.
One of them even spoke up directly with a smirk, “Dr. Sterling, you’re married, right? What did your husband get you for the New Year?”
“Oh, Dr. Sterling’s husband is probably just an average guy, right? Not everyone can be like Mr. Holloway, gifting expensive jewelry worth tens of thousands without a second thought.”
Oriana shut her locker door.
The noisy chatter in the locker room instantly died down. The previously laughing interns stifled their amusement, exchanging uneasy looks.
Seizing the moment to play the good person, Luna stepped in with an apologetic expression. “Sorry, Oriana. Iris and the others just love to joke around; they don’t mean any harm. Please don’t take it to heart.
“And…” she bit her lip pitifully, “about the review, don’t worry too much. The results aren’t out yet. The final decision is up to the expert panel.”
Her feigned, weak apology instantly painted Oriana as the petty, jealous one.
Oriana let out a low, meaningful chuckle.
She lifted her eyes, bright and clear, and fixed Luna with a sharp, insincere smile, the sharpness in her gaze no longer hidden.
“You’re right. The results aren’t out, yet someone’s already celebrating prematurely. If they end up losing face later, it won’t be me. Why would I be upset?”

Luna hadn’t expected Oriana to challenge her so directly in front of everyone. She was left speechless, fuming silently.
Oriana was busy; she needed to discuss a tricky pre–holiday patient case with William. Without another word, she stepped past Luna and left.
Watching Oriana’s proud, steady, slender back retreat, Luna gritted her teeth in fury.
“Oriana Sterling, just you wait! Your smugness won’t last long!”
She took a deep breath, calming herself before turning back to the awkward–looking group.
Luna pretended to be unbothered. “That’s just how Oriana is. She can’t take a joke.”
Seeing her appear indifferent, the others relaxed and laughed again, “She’s nowhere near as easygoing as you, Luna!”
“Exactly. Probably a difference in background. Luna is proper Seabar high society, with plenty of family backing. Someone like Oriana, an ordinary person who finally gets a good opportunity, has to cling to it for dear life and climb up. Of course she has to be serious about everything.”
“Yeah, yeah! I remember when Luna first joined Mr. Flint’s team, her dad personally arranged things all the way from Seabar. Planning so meticulously for his beloved daughter–which family goes to such lengths to give their child a leg up like that?”
“Wow, this is my first time hearing about that! Luna, you’re so lucky!”
“I heard it from that classmate of Luna’s who also came from Seabar… Willow, right? She said Luna’s family spoils her like a princess!”
Luna smiled, thoroughly enjoying the admiration and praise.
Coincidentally, her phone rang, the screen showing the contact name ‘Daddy.
A junior doctor standing next to her caught a glimpse. “Speak of the devil! Luna, is your daddy calling to check how your first day back after the holiday is going?”
Luna covered her mouth with a light laugh. “Probably. He knows about the review too; he’s even more anxious about it than I am!”
“Who’s jealous of this father–daughter bond? I won’t say!”
