But stepping inside, he froze, confused by the tense atmosphere. “What’s going on here? Why does everyone look like they’re about to explode?”

Hewitt and Silas exchanged awkward greetings with him.

Soren, not thinking much of it, approached Xander and smiled. “Good news, Mr. Stone. We found one of Niall’s old comrades. He’s at Poweea Hospital right now, and my team is heading there to meet him and get clear information about Niall’s biological daughter.”

Xander paused, his gaze sharp and calculating. “Get a car ready. I’m going myself.”

Soren was taken aback. “You’re going? Maybe it’s too much for the round trip, and in two days you have to rush back for the summit.”

“Since I got it wrong before, this time I’ll personally set things straight and get to the bottom of it,” Xander said firmly. “Prepare the car.”

Soren nodded. “Yes, sir.”

On the holiday, traffic was heavy. Oriana pressed on through the sunset, arriving at Caldwell Estate to find Zara being treated like royalty by Noah and Niamh, pampered with food and drink at the main seat.

Hearing Albert announce Oriana’s arrival, Zara dashed out with a small plate of pink pineapple. “Oriana, you finally made it!”

“Zara, hey, slow down!”

Oriana hurriedly got out of the car and grabbed her hand. “You’re pregnant now; you can’t be so reckless.”

Zara stuck out her tongue. “Oops, I totally forgot.”

Oriana softened her expression. “Mr. Caldwell is really nice. You don’t need to be so tense.”

“I know he’s nice,” Zara nodded, grabbing a fork and shoving pineapple into Oriana’s mouth. “I was just waiting for you to eat it! Oh, it’s so sweet, crisp, and juicy. I already ate two pieces, so they wouldn’t oxidize while waiting for you to get back.”

Oriana was momentarily stunned by the burst of fruity sweetness.

She realized she had been worrying too much.
