Hewitt’s expression flickered slightly, and Silas responded respectfully, “Mr. Stone, you’re right. All the effort we put in is deserved. If I’ve reached this position, it’s because of the opportunities given by both leadership and the people. I should repay them with even more effort and results, and I certainly won’t let down your trust in me.”
Xander pinched his cup, watching the steam curl from the hot tea, silent.
Silas, afraid of the awkwardness, smiled and tried to steer the conversation.
Suddenly, his eyes lit up. “What a coincidence, Mr. Stone. That young lady I once saw briefly at your place, I also met her at Seabar. She’s quite impressive, and now she’s here in Jindiwood as well.
“She’s made a name for herself at such a young age. You must have a keen eye to notice her potential at a glance.”
Xander sipped from his cup cautiously, his brows relaxing just slightly. “Do you have contact with her?”
“No, not really. A few days ago, her father came to see me. He said the whole family wanted to attend the AI Summit together and thought it would be a good opportunity to catch up with you. Seabar had a conference those days, so I just passed the spot along to them.”
With a loud crash, Xander slammed his cup onto the table.
Expressionless, he gave a cold, commanding laugh. “Catch up with them? I don’t even know them.”
Silas‘ smile faltered.
At first, he thought Xander was joking, but the longer he looked, the more uneasy he felt.
Xander, sensing Silas‘ discomfort, let his cold smirk deepen.
Xander could see right through Silas‘ odd behavior, his face twisting into an even colder sneer.
“Exactly what did he say to you?” Xander asked.
Silas pursed his lips, answering honestly. “Mr. Sterling said that Luna owes her success to your guidance, and that this trip to Jindiwood was specifically to thank you-”
The more Silas spoke, the darker Xander’s expression became.
Hewitt quickly nudged Silas‘ elbow subtly and whispered, “Silas, don’t believe all the gossip outside. Everyone knows Mr. Stone is just and impartial–he doesn’t favor outsiders.”
Silas broke into a cold sweat, apologizing repeatedly. “I didn’t think it through properly, Mr. Stone. Please forgive me.”
“No, you explained it well,” Xander said, his voice authoritative, his smile cruel and chilling to anyone who

looked at him.
“A few years ago, Luna came to the estate with a martyr’s medal. As a war orphan, she suffered countless indignities, but I intervened to help her.
“Later, it was discovered she had been switched at birth in the Sterling family at Seabar and had no blood relation to Niall. She had her parents‘ support, so I stopped paying attention to her affairs until she came to Jindiwood.”
Silas suddenly understood. “I see.”
“But it seems, from what you’re saying, there are many rumors about your relationship with Luna.”
Xander’s tone shifted, eyes narrowing into sharp, gleaming slits. “Tell me. What exactly do you know?”
Silas hadn’t expected this massive misunderstanding. He cursed Luna and her family silently–how shameless, how audacious, nearly getting him into trouble!
Now, he dared not withhold anything. He recounted everything he had heard from colleagues about Luna’s rumors.
“When I first arrived at Seabar, I heard whispers that Luna was closely associated with you and enjoyed your favor. Because of that, the Seabar business sector opened many doors and special exceptions for the Sterling family.
“Bramwell leveraged Luna’s connections to reach many high–ranking officials, accessing insider resources and information. Every investment he made succeeded. His company grew from a small enterprise to a substantial one, and the family’s reputation in Seabar rose steadily, climbing through several social layers.”
