Chapter 403 The Trap
What a terrifying speed!
And those other designs–some took just a week, the longest no more than three months.
Under Micah’s lead, his team kept developing new products for the Research Center, each one quickly integrated into various industries across the country.
For the first time, Oriana truly felt why everyone at the Center admired Micah so much.
For the first time, she really understood the kind of genius she had married.
Oriana was too stunned to speak. Her heart pounded wildly in her chest, completely unaware that Micah, holding her close, had already grown impatient–his lips brushed along her cheek, his breath hot against her skin.
Suddenly, Oriana’s eyes widened in surprise. “Wait? Did you already have the prototype for the robotic arm four years ago?”
When she did the math, the timing seemed to line up exactly with when Grant’s accident happened.
As she turned her head in shock, she accidentally met Micah’s lips in a sudden, searing kiss.
Startled, Oriana pressed her palms against his chest, her eyes glimmering with a mix of confusion and shyness. “Micah, it’s still daytime.”
“It doesn’t matter,” he murmured. “The study has the tightest security in the house. No one can see us.”
“But–but the condoms are in the bedroom-”
Micah smoothly opened the first drawer on the left and took out two boxes.
He weighed one in his hand and muttered, “Should be enough.”
What?
Oriana’s vision spun.
Those were large boxes–ten packs each!
Enough? More like enough for countless rounds!

Only then did she realize why he had insisted on bringing her to the study.
He had planned this all along.
She had walked right into his trap.
And now, it was far too late to escape.

The silvery–blue hem of her dress slipped to the floor, mingling with Micah’s white suit jacket across the desk. Sunlight streamed in through the window, wrapping the two of them in a golden haze.

At the Radcliffe residence in Scabar.
In the living room, Darius and Willa still hadn’t recovered from the shock of learning that their daughter was already pregnant and would be married soon. In a daze, they sat with Cordell and Niamh, discussing the details of the wedding.
On the small sofa nearby, Zara lounged lazily, still furiously tagging Oriana in their group chat.
“Oriana? The livestream’s over. Where are you guys? Why aren’t you replying?”
“I’m so bored! Lily’s in class, and you’re ignoring me. I’m dying here!”
After muttering to herself for ages and getting no reply, Zara grew even more bored. She grabbed her phone and started playing a game instead.
Kenny, who had been slumped nearby with nothing to do, suddenly heard a familiar game sound.
He turned his head.
Zara was playing that game, too.
He couldn’t help scoffing. With her short attention span, she probably sucked at it–either throwing money at upgrades or begging some pro player to carry her.
Kenny hadn’t played in a while himself and wondered if his old teammates still remembered him.
As he was lost in thought, Zara suddenly felt a pair of eyes boring into her. The sensation made her squirm.

Sure enough, when she looked up, Kenny was staring straight at her.
Zara’s lips twitched. “What are you staring at? Never seen a pro before?”
Kenny blinked, momentarily stunned by her audacity.
A pro? Her?
I almost burst out laughing.
With a snort, he was just about to tease her when both families–having reached their preliminary agreement–turned toward the two of them.

“So, we’re settled then?” Niamh said warmly. “The rest, we’ll leave for the kids to decide.”
“Agreed,” Darius replied with a sigh. “Zara’s been spoiled since she was little. She’s headstrong and impulsive, so please–all of you, take good care of her.”
His gaze lingered on his daughter, full of love and reluctance.
His eyes were slightly red.
Zara had just graduated, and now she was about to be a wife and a mother.
In his eyes, she was still just a little girl.
Niamh took Kenny’s hand and assured the Radcliffe family, “Don’t worry. We’ll take good care of Zara.”
Zara glanced at her father’s reddened eyes, feeling her own nose sting.
“Oh, Dad, relax already! Oriana’s part of the family too, and with the two of us together, we’re unstoppable!”
Her playful tone made Darius chuckle through his emotion.

“You never stop joking, do you?”
Still, the thought of Oriana being with the Caldwell family comforted them. Knowing they were good people, Darius and Willa finally managed to breathe a little easier.
