Zara’s rocking chair had been specially adjusted to fit her body shape and sitting habits.
But Kenny, who was over six feet tall with long legs, couldn’t stretch them out fully. He crossed them instead, and truth be told, they looked well–proportioned and slender–quite pleasing to the eye.
Zara unconsciously touched her belly and muttered to herself, “Baby, take a good look at your dad’s legs. That length? Totally worth inheriting.”
“But speaking of which, what are you arguing with your parents about?” Kenny asked casually.
Mentioning this, Zara sat down on the edge of the bed, frustrated. “What else? He insists I take all the wedding gifts your family gave me. Seriously, I’m speechless.”
Kenny, of course, knew about Zara demanding the exorbitant wedding gifts. He had mocked and ridiculed her for it more than once. She was clearly a materialistic, money–obsessed gold digger.
However, Cordell and Niamh, for the sake of her pregnancy, agreed to all her conditions.
Seeing her angry expression, Kenny sneered, “What are you afraid of? I don’t need your money. If you’re worried, you can hire a lawyer to draft an agreement. I don’t want yours.”
“Why would I bother drafting an agreement with you for no reason?” Zara shot him a puzzled glare.
Kenny had been in a somewhat good mood earlier, but now, brought back to the topic of money and reminded of how she had so easily sold her marriage and body for it, he felt irritated.
“Fine, no need to tell me. I don’t want to hear about your family’s affairs.”
“You’re the one who asked!” Zara sprang to her feet, hands on her hips, eyes blazing.
“My bad for asking,” Kenny retorted sarcastically.
Too furious to respond, Zara simply gave him a thumbs–up and decided to say nothing more.
The conversation was going nowhere. Zara strode over, shooed him out of her rocking chair, lay down in it herself, and picked up her phone to continue playing her game.
Kenny, unceremoniously evicted, stared in disbelief. “Hey, is this how you ask for a favor?”

“When did Lever ask you for a favor?”
“You think I won’t go downstairs and have a chat with your parents?”

“Go ahead. Your legs are your own–I’m not stopping you.” Zara wore an expression of utter indifference. “Anyway, the baby is a Caldwell. If you ruin the wedding and we can’t get married, it’s your family who’ll be panicking, not me.”
Well, well, well! Zara had his family’s weakness firmly in her grasp!
Fuming, Kenny paced in circles on the spot. But no matter how angry he was, he could only grudgingly settle onto her small sofa, not daring to storm out. Staying here and playing on his phone was still better than facing her parents alone downstairs!
As soon as he opened his phone, numerous messages popped up in his group chat.
“@Kenny, bro, my great–grandpa said your grandpa mentioned you’re getting married?”
“Not just married–you’re going to be a dad! Kenny, keeping quiet while pulling off big moves!”
“Wow, which family is she from? She must be stunningly beautiful and gentle to have won over perpetually single Kenny.”
“I remember during Truth or Dare, Kenny said his ideal type was indeed pretty, gentle, and considerate!”
Kenny was speechless.
Stunningly beautiful?
His eyes drifted over the phone screen to Zara, who was fiercely focused on the game diagonally across from him. She had just started an intense match, her face free of makeup, hair casually tied back with an alpaca headband, looking completely natural. With makeup, she had a bold, striking beauty, but now, fresh–faced, she unexpectedly revealed a delicate, gentle charm.
But…
Gentle?
“Are you that stupid?”
“Even a dog would play better than you if you dangled a sausage from your phone!”
“Is the opponent your mom? Rushing to feed them kills–what a filial son!”

Kenny’s lips twitched violently. He took a deep breath, refocused on the rapidly updating chat, and typed forcefully on the virtual keyboard.
“If you must know, it’s by parental decree!”
The chat was instantly buzzing. “Huh? Approved by Mr. and Mrs. Caldwell themselves?”
“Oh my, Kenny hasn’t even graduated yet. Even for an arranged marriage, isn’t this too rushed?”
“It can’t be an arranged marriage, right? My grandpa said Mr. Noah Caldwell went to Seabar. Are there any unusually low–key big shots in Scabar? How come I didn’t know?”
