Oriana couldn’t hold back a sneeze. Micah reacted swiftly, catching it and deftly wiping her nose clean with the tissue before folding it and holding it in his hand.
This sent a deep blush instantly spreading across Oriana’s face. She stared dumbly at his hand, too embarrassed to look directly. “Aren’t you disgusted?!”
“What about you could possibly be disgusting?” He retorted with a perfectly straight face.
Oriana was rendered speechless.
“Still upset?” Micah asked, looking down at her.
“I know you’re trying to cheer me up,” Oriana said, glancing sideways at him.
His antics had indeed dissipated much of her earlier gloom.
She lifted her face, her eyes bright as she looked at him. “Micah, thank you.” For always appearing out of nowhere to save me when I’m at my most helpless and vulnerable.
A slight smile touched Micah’s lips. “It’s my duty. No need for thanks.”
He lowered his head and kissed the corner of her mouth. “I’ll have Kieran assign someone to keep an eye on them, so they won’t bother you again.”
Oriana nodded. “I don’t want to see them anymore either.”
Even though she told herself not to care, her mood was inevitably affected.
Fortunately, Oriana quickly regulated her emotions. Soon after, she started the sterilization countdown for the injection room, closed the door, and led him away.
As they walked towards the conference room, they ran into Leo and the others heading their
way.
He was walking towards her with Ethan and the rest. Even Kai was there, wearing a cap and mask, but when he saw her, he rushed forward the fastest, his eyes shining brightly.
“Oriana!”
Just as he was about to reach her, Micah stepped forward, blocking him–a clear, wordless declaration of possession.
Kai’s smile faded slightly. “We need to talk to Oriana.”

Micah’s smile didn’t reach his eyes. “I don’t believe my wife wishes to associate with people who previously disrespected her.”
Being directly called out like that made Kai’s face instantly darken.
Ethan stepped forward, pulling the impulsive Kai back.
“Ms. Sterling, could we speak with you privately? Ethan asked. “There are some matters from the past… I think we could-—”
“You want to talk about my biological parents, right?” Oriana had guessed as much.
The five men looked stunned. “You know?
“Since when did you know?”
Oriana thought for a moment. “Around the beginning of the year.”
Their expressions shifted dramatically. Leo looked particularly pained. “Do you resent us for making things difficult for you because of Luna? Oriana, we’re sorry. We were wrong, so terribly wrong.”
“Yeah! If Luna hadn’t deliberately lied to us and hidden the fact that you were switched at birth, we would have recognized you long ago!” Kai said indignantly.
Oriana’s tone remained placid. “It doesn’t really matter. Whatever pened between you and Luna is your business with her. It actually has very little to do with me.”
“How can it not matter? We were good to her because we thought she was our benefactor’s last living connection! But you are his only biological daughter.” Kai explained urgently. “Oriana, I’m the one who did all the bad things! I even almost hit you before… Hit me, curse me, I deserve it! I’ll take it all!”
Oriana shook her head.
She looked directly at the five outstanding young men before her. “Saving lives was my father’s duty and conviction. He saved you because every life is important and precious. By helping you, he also fulfilled his own profound purpose in life. He never expected anyone to repay him. Whether it’s Luna or me, your obsession runs too deep.”
Hearing Oriana’s magnanimous words, the five men were momentarily stunned.
The features of the elegant woman before them gradually overlapped in their minds with the determined, gentle eyes they remembered from the past.
They finally understood why Oriana had never sought them out to explain the truth, even after learning about it.

She didn’t care. It didn’t matter to her.

She didn’t want their repayment, nor did she want to expend the goodwill earned by Niall’s sacrifice.
“Oriana?”
Nyla, who had come from the affiliated hospital for an academic seminar, spotted Oriana and strode over. As she got closer, she noticed Oriana holding hands with a man, with several other men standing in front of her.
Nyla had naturally seen the headlines from yesterday’s summit and recognized Micah immediately.
Her smile instantly vanished, replaced by a strange, somewhat sharp tone. “Why is your husband following you to work? And who are they…?”
Micah frowned.
He sensed hostility from Nyla.
The key point was, this hostility wasn’t directed at Oriana. It was directed at him.
