Chapter 423 The Guardian
What were Nyla’s intentions towards Oriana?
Hearing her, Oriana turned and raised a surprised eyebrow. “He’s here to discuss the SmartMed project,” she explained.
“Oh,” Nyla responded stiffly, her eyes critically scanning their joined hands. “Fine, he’s here. But why are you holding hands?”
Micah’s mouth twitched in disbelief at the absurdity of the question. His tone cooled. “We are married. Since when does anyone else get to dictate whether we hold hands?”
“Of course it matters! This is a hospital. It creates a bad impression for Dr. Sterling, don’t you understand?” Nyla pursed her lips, leaning closer to Oriana to whisper, “Are you silly? Just listening to whatever the man says? For women, our own careers are the most important! Family comes second. If people see and gossip, it won’t affect him, but it might affect you.”
Oriana didn’t know whether to laugh or cry, touched by Nyla’s unexpected concern.
She offered a polite smile. “Alright, I’ll pay attention next time.”
“Why wait for next time? Pay attention this time too!” Nyla was practically fretful on her behalf.
“Yes. You’re right,” Oriana agreed repeatedly, and actually let go of M

hand.
“That’s better. Hey, your husband is pulling a long face now. Tsk, so immature. Doesn’t he know your affairs are what’s most important? Can’t even stand not being attached at the hip for a little while. Yesterday I praised your taste in men, but now… I take that back.” She assessed, rubbing her chin, making Oriana even more amused.
Micah’s expression was now indescribably grim.
Unfortunately, he couldn’t even lose his temper
Because Oriana’s attention was no longer on him at all, Nyla had pulled her aside to discuss some journal article.
Micah let out a heavy, silent sigh. He could only follow them wordlessly, not daring to be ‘immature‘ again.

covered his mouth from behind, struggling not to laugh out loud!
Kai watched as Oriana walked past him without a single glance.
He murmured lowly, “Will we never be forgiven”
After a moment, Leo came over and clapped him on the shoulder. “I have to get to work. I need to discuss that journal article with Oriana later.”
Kai’s eyes widened. “Dammit!”
Ethan also came over and patted his back. “I’ll have a heart–to–heart with my sister tonight. She’s very close with Oriana now.”
Kai gritted his teeth. “Damn you!”
Arthur glanced at him. “My mentor is at Aurora House. I’ll try to see if I can join their team.”
Kai was incredulous. “Are you even human?”
Oscar started to approach. Before he could speak, Kai cut in, “If you dare say it, I won’t help you with your breach of contract penalty!”
Oscar shrugged innocently. “I was thinking of joining the Research Center. After all, Micah is there.”
Kai hesitated immediately. “If you get in, can you keep an eye on Mic odd to me. Can he really make Oriana happy?”
Oscar looked at him but didn’t respond.

Kai closed his eyes, clenched his teeth, and made a decision. “Go! I’ll handle your legal issues so you can go. You have to watch him closely. If Oriana ever gets hurt, you’re the first one I’m coming for!”
Luna, clad head–to–toe in black attire with a matching cap and face mask, slipped into the maternity ward of Jindiwood Foreign–Capital Private Hospital.
She pretended to sit near the restroom for a while, head bowed as if playing on her phone, but actually observing the women coming and going.
Finally, she fixed her target on a young woman who emerged from a consultation room, her belly still flat, her face full of sorrow.
The girl took a few steps, took out her phone to make a call, but no one answered. After several attempts, she gave up, lowering her head to touch her belly, her expression pained and sad, her eyes full of reluctance.
