Kai rolled his eyes inwardly, not wanting to waste time on Lottie. Knowing Oriana should be arriving soon, he hurriedly dismissed her. “Go on. Get out of here. I already told you I’m not filming with you.”
“Kai, you just think I’m too short and not stunning! Didn’t expect you to be such a shallow guy. I’m done with you forever!” Lottie stormed off, throwing out a weak insult as she left.
She practically ran out of Nash’s house and nearly collided with Oriana face–to–face.
The village had few streetlights, but under the bright, clear moonlight, Lottie looked at Oriana’s young, beautiful face and felt a flood of complicated emotions. Suddenly, she understood why Oriana was here. Her eyes reddened with anger as she shoved past her and left.
“O–Oriana? You’re here!”
Kai spun around and almost couldn’t hide the grin spreading across his face when he saw Oriana standing at the door.
Leo, Ethan, Arthur, Oscar, just wait, you’ll regret mocking me!
Laugh all you want. Who says I won’t get my chance to make things right?
Here it is.
Kai straightened his expression, cleared his throat, and looked at her with his hands behind his back. “Why are you standing outside? Come in.”
Then he noticed she was empty–handed and frowned. “Where’s your luggage? Didn’t Director Hill tell you to move in here?”
After a moment, he smiled and waved his hand. “Wait, the mountain roads are rough. You’re a girl; it’s inconvenient to carry your bags here. You want me to help, right? Fine, I’ll carry everything for you.”
Without waiting for her reply, Kai stepped outside and headed toward the small house Oriana was staying in.
But after walking several feet, he realized no footsteps followed behind. Puzzled, he turned
back.
Under the bright moonlight, Oriana stood her ground, staring at him with cool, distant eyes.

Kai felt unsettled under that gaze. “Not coming? Why are you looking at me like that?”

Oriana stared straight at him and called him out bluntly. “You followed me here to Sunrise Village.”
Kai almost bit his tongue, too guilty to meet her eyes. “What nonsense are you talking? I’m not that bored to bother you. You better stop-”
“You knew where I live. The first time you came to this village, you found my place without a single mistake.”
Kai’s eyes widened in disbelief. He clenched his fists, and then his whole body trembled uncontrollably.
He was very thrilled!
Yes, that’s it!
Niall’s daughter should be sharp and capable like this, not some Luna who only knows how to play the
victim.
Damn it, how was I so blind to Luna before?
Kai silently rejoiced for a moment, but noticed Oriana’s expression remained indifferent. He immediately pushed aside his nonsense thoughts and started beating his own mental drums.
Weird. Oriana seems easy to get along with, not fierce or scary. Why am I so afraid of her?
Kai didn’t try to figure it out. At that moment, he just didn’t want to.
The two stood there silently for a long while. Neither said a word until Kai finally couldn’t hold back anymore. He pursed his lips and admitted quietly.
“Yes, I followed you to Sunrise Village. But believe me, I mean you no harm. I’m not the same person I used to be.”
When she saw Kai’s flushed face as he hurried to defend himself, Oriana’s brows twitched slightly.
She said softly, “I told you, I don’t need any of this from you.”
“That’s impossible. How could we just stand by, watch Niall’s daughter right here among us, and do nothing as if she were a stranger?” Kai exhaled deeply.
“I don’t have any other motive. You know my job is special. I’m often flying from city to city.

This is a rare break for me. I just want to get closer to you, see if there’s anything I with.”
As Kai met Oriana’s cold gaze, his voice softened. “E–Even if I can’t help much, at make sure you have a better place to live.”
