Chapter 450 Stirring the Pot

Lottie hated injustice like fire. After Luna’s brainwashing earlier, she had long since developed a bad impression of Oriana.
She despised that type of fake–good–person who puts on a show on the surface but secretly backstabs and claws her way up. In her eyes, Oriana was exactly that kind of bitch.
At first, Lottie didn’t care. Even if they worked at the same hospital, it was just a matter of hearing some gossip now and then–annoying, but bearable.
What she didn’t expect was to be assigned to work alongside Oriana. And on her very first day, Kai had already pre–decided Oriana as the lead in the promotional video. Lottie had no intention of holding back.
“Forget it, Lottie. Oriana isn’t as kind and patient as she looks. It’s better if you just don’t provoke her,” Luna texted with a bitter smile.
“Look what happened to me. I’m living a mess because of her.”
“She’s stomping on me. Who lets her win? I’m not you, Luna, all timid and trying to be friends with her. Screw that. If she dares mess with me, I’ll make sure she regrets it!”
“Alright then, Lottie, just be careful. Don’t act on impulse. Remember, she’s got Micah and Mr. Harris backing her up.”
“Afraid of her? Hey! Even if God himself showed up, it wouldn’t help!”
Luna held her phone tightly, watching Lottie openly throwing shade at her on the other end. She took a deep breath to keep calm.
Lottie was just a reckless fool. If she was there in the countryside making Oriana’s life miserable, at least Luna had some satisfaction.
A faint smile tugged at Luna’s lips, but the slightest movement pulled at the sore wound on her face.
Grant’s slap from yesterday had almost used up all his strength. Her ears had been ringing nonstop for nearly three hours. She’d ordered anti–inflammatory medicine via delivery just to barely keep the pain down.
But she still couldn’t find peace.
This huge house felt cold and empty.

She didn’t dare open her phone; countless messages were flooding in
The worst was from Bramwell.

He called her a bastard, told her to go die, and accused her of scheming with Grant to steal his
money.
All kinds of cruel and harsh insults were piled on.
Luna’s face turned ashen. Unable to bear it any longer, she immediately blocked Bramwell.
Before the New Year, Bramwell had tried everything to force investment into Grant’s project.
Now that things went south, he dumped all the blame on her!
Why? He invested in Grant, expecting profit. None of the Sterling family’s earnings ever made it to me. So why should I bear the losses and risks?
And then there was Evelyn and Owen. Luna still remembered when Evelyn first took her back into the Sterling family. Evelyn had cried into her arms, promising to make up for the motherly love Luna had missed for over a decade.
She said she’d spoil her like a princess.
Owen held her hand tightly, eyes red, promising to make her the happiest sister in the world.
But now?
Videos had surfaced online showing Grant beating her until her face was bruised and swollen. Not a single person cared. They didn’t give a damn about her well–being. Instead, they told her to swallow her pride and apologize to Grant–to protect the Sterling family, to not upset Bramwell, to ask Grant to pay back the investment money.
It was ridiculous!
The Sterling family didn’t care about her. Whether the family lived or died, what did that have to do with her?
Luna absolutely would not give up because of this!
She’d barely slept all night. Now it was almost noon–Grant’s usual lunch break. Luna steeled herself and called him.
The call rang twice, then was hung up.

She tried again, only to find she had been blocked.
Luna’s face twisted in rage. She found Alaric’s number and called him.
After a long ring, Alaric finally answered, hesitating. “Luna, Grant’s not here.”

Luna held her breath, voice soft. “Alaric, could you please apologize to Grant for me? Tell him I know I was wrong. Tell him I love him so much that I can’t live without him.”
Her voice cracked by the end.
Before picking up the phone, Alaric had braced himself for Luna’s usual grilling and demands. He was even debating what excuse to give to brush her off.
He knew Luna was only gentle and tender with Grant. To the rest of them, she was downright bossy. Clearly, she looked down on them all.
