Chapter 458 Lottie Is Wrong
“Over there, the tall, pretty lady. Oh, Director, you’re hurting me. That lady didn’t hurt me like this earlier.”
Chuck immediately loosened his grip. “Yes, she’s more careful than I am.”
Then Lottie’s face instantly darkened!
She glared hatefully at Oriana –
Damn it! So her little performance with Billy earlier was just laying the groundwork, playing the sympathy card!
How calculating!
Chuck must have a bad impression of her now!
Chuck, however, didn’t say anything directly to either of them. After finishing the simple tests, he stood behind Billy, felt the back of his neck, moved it slightly, and asked if there was any pain.
After about five minutes, Chuck removed his gloves.
Lottie couldn’t wait any longer. “Director Hill, based on my years of experience with patients in the clinic, Mr. Green has frozen shoulder. I’m confident that through acupuncture and physical therapy, we can restore at least seventy percent of his function…”
Before she could finish, Chuck’s tone turned icy. “Seventy percent? Aren’t you overstating things?”
Thinking Chuck was worried she was making empty promises that would damage the hospital’s reputation in front of the patient, Lottie quickly added, “Director Hill, please believe me! I have ample experience with this condition. As long as it’s not extremely severe, there is always hope for recovery!”
Chuck finally looked at the eager–to–prove–herself Lottie.
He stared at her for a couple of seconds, then turned to Oriana. “Óriana, what’s your take? If the patient were in your care, would you be confident in treating him?”
Oriana shook her head. “Director Hill, I would not.”
“Why not? You were certain Mr. Green has a rotator cuff injury.”

“I can confirm he does not have frozen shoulder but a rotator cuff injury. However, without more precise diagnostic tools, I cannot be one hundred percent certain about the extent or specific location of the injury. If I were to proceed based solely on my own judgment, misdiagnosing or mistreating could worsen the patient’s condition. Therefore, a more conservative approach is advisable.”
That was Oriana’s response.
Lottie’s eyes lit up, and she was practically overjoyed.
She thought Oriana was admitting defeat. Elated and forgetting herself in front of Chuck, she couldn’t resist taking a jab at Oriana. “Oriana… she really is just filling a spot in our medical team, isn’t she?”
“The one who’s merely filling a spot is you!”
Chuck immediately raised his voice in rebuke.
This time, he was clearly genuinely angry, his tone unconsciously sharpening. Even Billy heard and looked over.
“Director Hill, why…?”
Lottie’s face was full of disbelief. She couldn’t believe Chuck would reprimand her so harshly.
She had been in this field for years. After the initial criticism during her internship, her performance steadily improved, earning consistent praise from every department head she worked under.
“And you have the nerve to ask?”
Chuck’s voice was cold. “Dereliction of duty, arrogant and conceited! Oriana is only an intern, yet she understands the most fundamental principles. You, relying on your few extra years of experience, tried to suppress her with your so–called ‘expertise.‘ Do you have any idea that your foolishness would have come at the cost of the patient’s suffering?”
It felt like a blunt object had struck Lottie’s head. She finally understood.
Her eyes
widened. “How… how could it be a rotator cuff injury? Director Hill, even the volunteer doctors who treated Mr. Green before said it was frozen-”
Hearing this, the atmosphere around Chuck grew even heavier. He was furious. “It’s precisely because of overconfident, sloppy, and incompetent doctors like you that misdiagnosis and mistreatment of minor illnesses occur!

Lottie felt as if struck by lightning. These words utterly shattered her self–esteem and pride in her professional skills.
“Starting today–no, starting now–you are demoted to the nursing team. When you have properly reflected on this, you will report your findings in front of the entire team. Until that day, you are not permitted to return to the physician ranks!”
Chuck acted decisively, effectively turning the very tactics Lottie had tried to use to oust Oriana back on her.
