Chapter 483 The Drive
Kenny fell silent for a moment.
He imagined the scenario. Micah would probably reduce him to confetti.

Now thinking more clearly, Kenny’s expression shifted strangely. He shot Zara a few glances, then without a word, turned to walk back the way they came.
Zara grabbed his arm and pulled him back. “Where do you think you’re going?”
Irritated, Kenny ran a hand through his already disheveled hair. “You’re the one who said we weren’t going. I’m heading back in.”
“Back in, my foot!”
Zara rolled her eyes and jabbed a finger towards the garage. “Get the car. We’re going to the movies.”
“Go by yourself,” Kenny retorted instantly. “I’m not going.”
“Fine. I’ll go alone,” Zara said, her voice dropping to a dramatic, ominous tone. “I wonder how many lectures you’ll get from your grandpa, mom, and dad when they find out you sent your pregnant wife to the cinema all by herself while you stayed home sleeping.”
As she spoke, she gleefully rubbed her own earlobe, feigning sympathy. “Your poor ears might just get stretched out of shape, huh?”
Now that’s a threat.
So blatant, so personalized–she might as well have called him ‘Donkey–Ears Kenny‘ outright!
“Fine! We’ll go! What am I afraid of?”
Gritting his teeth, Kenny stalked off towards the garage, radiating resentment.
Zara watched his reluctant, fuming, yet powerless retreat, crossing her arms.
Honestly. This dimwit still wants to challenge me?
He’s just asking to be put in his place.
Truthfully, if the highly–anticipated sequel to that blockbuster franchise hadn’t just hit theaters–a movie Zara had been dying to see–and if that prospect didn’t somewhat make up for the juicy gossip she was missing, she would have made Kenny’s night a living hell.

The movie was in high demand. Once Kenny pulled up in the car, Zara slid into the passenger seat and pulled up a showtime app.

“Oceanview Plaza. Show starts in thirty minutes she commanded, setting the navigation.
Kenny almost choked. “Oceanview Plaza? Please, that’s a forty–minute drive minimum! Plus parking and navigating the mall. If you’re okay missing the first act, be my guest.”
Zara responded with another expert eye–roll.
She’d noticed that since spending more time with Kenny, her eye–rolling had reached an art form, and its frequency was off the charts.
He really was one of a kind.
“It’s late, the roads are clear. Can’t you just step on it?”
“Step on it? You sure your stomach can handle it?”
Zara nodded without a shred of doubt. “Absolutely! Your lady has an iron gut!”
Kenny’s cheek twitched. “Alright then! Buckle up. And don’t come crying to me if you lose your dinner!”
With that, the yellow Ferrari launched forward like a shot.
Fueled by pure spite, Kenny slammed the accelerator down, pushing the speedometer towards the legal edge.
On several tight curves, the Ferrari’s rear left a streak of color, executing drifts.
Kenny hadn’t cut loose like this in ages. Finally behind the wheel of his own car, the feeling was pure exhilaration.
After a while, even pushing the limit couldn’t beat the traffic lights. Kenny finally eased to a
stop.
“So? Not bad, right?” he said, turning to brag to his passenger with a smug grin.
Instead, he was met with Zara’s deathly pale face
Her eyes were fixed straight ahead, wide and unblinking, her face a picture of lingering shock.
Kenny’s triumphant smile vanished instantly. “Hey, Zara? Weren’t you the one who said you weren’t scared? Cat got your tongue?”

Kenny’s smile vanished. He immediately reached over and shook Zara’s shoulders. His hand accidentally brushed her cheek–it felt ice–cold
His heart sank even further.
“Damn it! If you couldn’t handle it, you should have said so! Why be so stubborn?!” he cursed under his breath, quickly pulling up the navigation to find the nearest hospital.
Before he could even start the car, Zara–who had been completely unresponsive–suddenly burst into peals of laughter.
“Hahaha! Got you! Kenny, you’re so weak! Scared that easily? Hahaha!”
Seeing the lively, mischievous smile back on her face, it was now Kenny’s turn to be stunned.
“You… you were faking it?”
Kenny growled in anger. “Do you have to be so childish?!”
Zara pouted, completely unapologetic. “Come on, it was just a joke. Don’t take it so seriously.”
