“I was terrified, and I regretted it! I tried to make things right! I even posted supportive comments about Oriana, I tried to take the photos down! But too many people had saved them. I deleted my posts, but I couldn’t delete everyone else’s. I… I… I thought scandals like this blow over for celebrities all the time! I thought after it passed, it would be okay! I was going to apologize to Oriana then. I really did regret it!”
Kai’s fists clenched so tightly his knuckles turned white. “Are you out of your mind?! You dragged Oriana through hell, you didn’t come clean from the start, and you thought you could wait until the storm passed to apologize? Have you no shame at all?!”
Lottie howled, “I was scared! I was scared too! Waaah… I was wrong, I know I was wrong…
Watching Lottie reduced to a sobbing wreck, stripped of her usual haughty bravado, Audrey felt a sharp stab of pain.
This was, after all, the student she had poured so much effort into.
“Dr. Bishop, please! Help me! I know I was wrong! I’ll change! I’ll do whatever you say! I’ll apologize to Oriana. I’ll beg her to forgive me! Just don’t kick me out of the hospital, don’t hand me over to the police…”
Her pleas spilled out between ragged sobs, her voice growing raw.
“You know my family, Dr. Bishop! If this gets out, my violent father and my brother will beat me to death! Dr. Bishop, I can’t go to jail! Please, give me a chance!”
Audrey couldn’t bear to watch. She closed her eyes.
A long moment later, she slowly opened them again, her eyes damp and red–rimmed.
Her tone had softened, shifting to one of appeal. “Dr. Sterling, given that Lottie has admitted her fault… could you possibly find it in your heart to give her one more chance?”
This time, Micah remained silent. He simply turned his gaze to Oriana.
His role was to stand guard. The choice was hers; he would respect it.
Oriana looked at the tear–streaked, pleading face before her and spoke quietly. “Lottie, you’re not sorry for what you did. You’re just scared.”
As Oriana’s calm, clear words landed, the mask of contrition on Lottie’s face shattered, revealing a glimpse of something dark and twisted beneath.
Even when her plan was exposed and she had to beg Audrey, there had been a kernel of

resentment and defiance in her heart.
Now, with Oriana’s single sentence, Lottie’s last thread of control snapped.
Without a moment’s hesitation, the retort flew from her lips. “I said I was wrong! What more do you want?!”
Kai’s jaw tightened. “Is that your idea of an apology, Lottie? You set up Dr. Sterling, you show no real remorse, and now you’re trying to bully her into forgiving you?”
Just as Kai was about to say Oriana’s name, a sudden, bone–deep chill swept through him.
He was sharply reminded of last night’s visit from Kieran. The message, delivered politely but firmly, had been clear: Micah wanted him to keep his distance from Oriana, to stop approaching her with his ‘complicated‘ public persona.
Kai had been livid, ready to dismiss the demand outright.
But then Kieran had produced a document.
The shareholding certificate naming the Caldwell Group as the majority stakeholder of Kai’s own agency, the Karna Entertainment.
It stated plainly that Micah Caldwell was now the controlling shareholder. For the duration of Kai’s contract, Micah had the authority to dictate his professional conduct.
Kai had cursed vehemently.
Kieran had merely smiled that faint, professional smile. “Mr. Sullivan, Mr. Caldwell wishes to make it clear that he is the only one with the right–and the means–to claim Mrs. Caldwell’s full attention.”
Before Kai could argue, Kieran continued, his tone firming. “Yesterday’s attack is proof enough, Mr. Sullivan. You’ve declared Mrs. Caldwell the daughter of your savior. But can you guarantee that no other unstable fan will target her because of that connection now?”
It was a sobering blow. Kai had frozen, genuine alarm flashing across his face.
“I… I hadn’t considered that…”
Kieran gave a slight, polite nod. “I suggest you reflect on it carefully. For Mrs. Caldwell, you and Mr. Caldwell are not on the same level. Please, do not cross the line.”
Kai’s gaze wavered for a second, pulling him back to the present.
He shot a conflicted look at the man standing protectively beside Oriana, resentment simmering in his chest. Yet, apart from that bitter sense of powerlessness, he had no means
