“About the baby moving–you usually start feeling it around sixteen weeks, and it gets more active later on. If you’ve got a real wiggle–worm in there, those kicks can really pack a punch. I’ve even seen photos where you can see a tiny handprint pressed against the belly.”

“What? A little handprint… you can actually see that?”

Zara winced, halfway between a laugh and a grimace. “Oh my gosh, wouldn’t that hurt?”

Oriana thought for a second. “Probably more like a deep, heavy ache? I’ve never been pregnant myself, so I’m not totally sure.”

“Then don’t. Don’t rush into it.”

Thinking about what might lie ahead, Zara popped a few more dried fruits into her mouth like they were her only solace.

She lifted her chin with an air of solemn responsibility. “Oriana, I really think you shouldn’t rush to get pregnant. Let me go through the whole thing first. Then I’ll give you my full report on whether it’s worth it.”

Oriana couldn’t help but smile, gently taking Zara’s hand. “Okay, I won’t rush. I’m right here with you.”

The car rolled smoothly into the drive of Jindiwood Garden.

Noah, along with Cordell and Niamh, was already waiting outside the villa.

As the four of them stepped out, Noah greeted them with a beaming smile. “Oriana, I’ve missed you around here, you know.”

Zara burst out laughing. “I literally just told Oriana the same thing!”

Noah chuckled heartily, “Looks like we’re all on the same wavelength.”

Zara nodded vigorously. “Exactly! Great minds think alike.”

Oriana and Zara flanked Noah, gently guiding him toward the house.

Noah patted the back of Oriana’s hand, his touch warm and affectionate. “You had a rough time out there, Oriana.”

“Grandpa, I’m really okay. It didn’t get to me.”

“That’s good.” Noah nodded, then seemed to remember something and glanced over at Micah. “And he–is he fully healed up now?”

The question hung in the air, and both Oriana and Zara froze, eyes wide with surprise…

Zara, never one for subtlety, immediately whirled on Kenny, teeth clenched. “Traitor!”

Kenny was stunned.

“Seriously? How is this my

fault?”

Cordell and Niamh looked equally startled. “Micah was hurt? When did this happen?”

Oriana felt a pang of guilt. “Grandpa, I’m sorry. This is on me. I shouldn’t have kept it from you.”

Zara rushed to share the blame. “No, it’s my fault–I told her not to say anything. If you’re upset, be upset with me. It has nothing to do with Oriana!”

Kenny, ignored by Zara, stepped forward and repeated clearly, “I already said it wasn’t me.”

“My affairs are my own, Grandpa. There’s no need to blame anyone else,” Micah said, his brow tightly furrowed.

Taking in the scene where everyone seemed to be shielding one another, trading blame and defense, Noah stroked his beard and put on a stern face for a moment before suddenly breaking into a hearty laugh.

“You kids, always so quick to jump. Why would I be angry?”

He slipped his hands into Oriana’s and Zara’s, giving them an affectionate squeeze. “Relax. I’m not here to interrogate anyone. I had someone look into Lottie’s mess. She spilled everything that happened in Sunrise Village, down to the smallest detail. Did you really think I wouldn’t find out?”

He continued, his tone softening, “And come now–Micah got hurt protecting Oriana. He’s a man, he’s her husband. He did exactly what he should have. I’m proud, not angry. I asked because I was concerned.”

Oriana and Zara exchanged a relieved glance. Zara immediately broke into a grin and turned on the charm. “Grandpa, you’re the best! So understanding!”

Oriana added, “That girl only bought phosphoric acid at the Sunrise Village market. The vendors were worried and sold her a heavily diluted concentration. Micah’s injury wasn’t serious. It’s pretty much healed now.”

Noah finally let out a sigh of relief. “Good.”

“Micah and Oriana are blessed. They’ll always be fine,” Niamh said with a gentle smile, then nudged softly, “Noah, they just got back. Let’s go inside and talk comfortably.”

Noah saw right through it but didn’t say it aloud–Niamh was already doting on the little one in Zara’s belly. No way was she letting Zara stand around for long.

And honestly, he didn’t want his Zara or his precious great–grandchild getting tired either.

Once settled inside, Noah asked Oriana about the volunteer clinic in Sunrise Village and what she planned to do during her break. Oriana thought for a moment and said, “Micah and I were thinking of getting away for a few days…”

Before the words had even fully left his mouth, Zara sprang up, already bouncing on her toes. “Where are you all going? Take me with you! I want to come too! I’m so bored sitting around at home, I feel like I’m raising pigs in here!”

Just as expected, her words instantly darkened Micah’s expression.
