“What on earth? Is the AC broken?”

Zara felt around for her phone, got out of bed to check, and found the AC was indeed turned off. No matter how she adjusted it, it wouldn’t start.
She called the homestay owner, who was available 24/7. After hearing about the situation, the owner apologized, “The AC in the room on the right side upstairs had issues before. It was repaired, and I informed the previous guest. But with the changeover, I forgot to mention it to you. I’m really sorry it happened to break again.”
The owner quickly offered a solution. “Are all the guests settled? I can have someone open up the room next door. Could you switch? I’m really very sorry.”
Zara had researched before coming. This room had the best view in the entire homestay and offered an unobstructed view of the sunrise. She’d booked in a hurry and even paid a premium to get it from the previous guest.
Switching rooms now disrupted her carefully laid plans, and Zara was reluctant.
“The AC in the other rooms is fine, right?”
The owner quickly assured, “Yes. The other guest rooms and the living room are all fine.”
“Alright, no need to switch for now. I’ll sleep in the next room.”
“Okay, thank you for understanding. Please contact me anytime if you need anything.”
Since the owner’s attitude was good, Zara decided not to make a fuss.
After hanging up, Zara hesitated for a moment.
Should she sleep on the sofa downstairs or squeeze into Kenny’s bed?
Compared to the beds at the Caldwell and Radcliffe homes, the homestay bed was only about five feet wide–a bit small.
But they’d shared before, and besides, Kenny was… well, not a threat, so she wasn’t scared.
But that guy was clearly still angry. If she went over now, wouldn’t she risk getting kicked out, bedding and all?
Zara thought for a moment and finally decided to take her quilt and give it a try.
Just in case. Sleeping in a bed was definitely better than on the sofa.
Anyway, she had thick skin. At most, she’d let him vent by hitting back.
Zara got straight to it, bundling up her quilt and pillow and heading to the opposite door.

Chapter 521 The Dream
Kenny hadn’t locked the door, so Zara opened it easily.
The room was pitch black, with light breathing sounds.
Carrying the quilt blocked Zara’s view, so she couldn’t see the situation on the bed.
“Kenny, are you asleep?”
She called softly but got no response.
“Great! Looks like he’s dead to the world!”
Feeling reassured, Zara walked to the foot of the bed, put her things down, and by the moonlight streaming through the window, saw Kenny indeed fast asleep with his eyes closed.

Probably due to being “oppressed” so much lately, when sharing a bed with her, Kenny had gone from sleeping in the middle to clinging to the edge.
Now, sound asleep on a five–foot bed, Kenny was dutifully hanging off the side. One turn, and he’d probably fall right off.
The empty space beside him perfectly met Zara’s sleeping needs.
She even saved herself the trouble of asking. With a flip of the quilt, a plop of the pillow, she climbed onto the bed and lay down perfectly.
There was even extra space to turn over!
Zara settled into a comfy spot and glanced sideways at Kenny, who was completely out of it. “Youth sure has its perks–sleeping like a rock,” she murmured with a soft chuckle.
A secret little smile touched her lips. It was wonderfully cozy now, and right beside her was a steady, radiating source of warmth. Almost without realizing it, Zara inched closer to Kenny, closed her eyes in contentment, and let herself drift off.

Kenny had a dream he couldn’t quite classify as good or bad.
In the dream, Zara was holding her stomach, crying out in pain. He anxiously rushed her to the hospital. When the doctor came out, he shook his head regretfully. “We couldn’t save the baby. My condolences.”
Kenny froze on the spot.
That baby was the only link in his and Zara’s absurd marriage.
If the baby was gone, didn’t that mean he could end everything with Zara?
He disliked her so much. He should be glad.
“The baby’s gone. You have no value left.”
