As they imagined, Oriana should have been overwhelmed by the truth. Then she would run back into Grant’s arms, crying, heartbroken, and seeking comfort.
Even Alaric believed that. In his eyes, a woman like Oriana, who’d already been publicly tied to Micah, should consider it a miracle if she divorced and still had a chance with Grant after she knew everything.
There was no reason for her to hesitate.
Grant, of course, thought the same.
Straightening his rumpled suit, Grant curled a cold smile, “She’s defending Micah on the surface. But I know what she really feels.”
He smiled, a glint of mockery shining in his eyes, “I know her better than anyone.”
“That’s why you’re Grant!” Alaric’s eyes lit up as realization dawned, and he said, “Yeah, this is huge. She just needs time to process it. Maybe she remembers how ugly things were between you two, and now she doesn’t know how to pull away gracefully. Either way, she’ll dump Micah in the end. And I bet it won’t take long.”
Grinding his teeth, he added bitterly, “This time, we’ll knock Micah off his pedestal. He’s been riding high for far too long.
“Congrats, Grant!”
Hearing this, Grant felt the sting of his earlier humiliation begin to fade.
Alaric leaned closer, lowering his voice, “What about Michael? We’ve locked him up for days. His family already called the cops.”
“Let him go. Tell him to keep his mouth shut. His secrets aren’t exactly honorable.”
“But what if he tells Micah everything…” Alaric frowned, suspicious.
“That’s exactly what I want.”
A cold glint flickered in Grant’s eyes. He sneered, “I’ll make it worse. Oriana thinks she can keep this buried? Impossible. Micah won’t walk away untouched. The panic and despair I once endured–he’ll experience it twice over.”
“But Grant, if he doesn’t care about Oriana at all, why would he suffer?”
Grant said in a certain tone, “It’s about a man’s pride. No man can tolerate losing control over a woman.”
“Got it!”
Alaric got excited too and answered, “I’ll have him released now!”
In the Cafeteria, after Grant left, the crowd slowly dispersed. Oriana and Lily found a table to eat.

Though the food looked delicious, Oriana merely nudged it around her plate with her fork. Lily looked at her anxiously, “Oriana, you okay?”
Oriana seemed to drift for nearly half a minute before she finally returned to herself. She smiled faintly, “I’m fine. Don’t worry.”
Lily had been waiting in line for ages. When she returned. Oriana had already unhappy. Lily had no idea what jerk ex Grant, had said–but it must have been bad enough to shake someone as composed as
Oriana.
Still, Lily knew Oriana didn’t want to talk about it. After all, she’d just told the bodyguards not to inform Micah…
Lily started to suspect all this was about Micah.
A quiet panic gripped Lily. Seeing Oriana drift into another daze, she quickly lowered her head and discreetly pulled out her phone to call for backup.
In the Hospital, Nelson stared at Micah’s test results, his face completely devoid of expression.
The room remained silent as the two men faced each other. Micah stayed composed, while Kieran slowly cracked under the weight of the silence.
