Oriana’s tear–filled eyes finally gave way. Her lashes trembled gently as tears began to stream down uncontrollably.

She lifted her head with effort, careful not to let her tears drip onto the crystal globe, and slowly placed it back inside the cabinet.

The next compartment held records from when she was nine.

That year–the year her grandmother passed away–was far from happy. In the photos, her smiles were few and far between.

But Micah still managed to capture a few moments when she genuinely laughed. He even made a separate small album filled entirely with her smiling faces.

When Oriana turned ten, she experienced the feeling of growing up for the first time.

She got her period early compared to her peers. She was weak and suffered a lot.

Two years in, Micah’s handwriting had grown sharper and more skilled.

“She looked pale today. There was blood on her pants. Was she hurt?”

Oriana raised an eyebrow. At least he found the cause. Otherwise, she shuddered to think what else might have happened.

She sat cross–legged, surrounded by the journals forming a little world around her.

Patiently, unwilling to miss a single word, she read every page carefully.

In the bedroom, Zara and Kenny stared at each other wide–eyed.

Suddenly, footsteps sounded outside the door. Zara and Kenny grew tense and rushed out to meet whoever it was.

They opened the door and, sure enough, it was Noah who had been alerted.

“Noah!” Zara and Kenny said in unison. “Grandpa!”

Noah looked hurried, glanced behind them, then frowned. “Where’s Oriana? What are you doing in Micah’s room?”

Zara was about to answer when Kenny stepped forward, blocking her and preventing Noah from looking inside. “W–We had some questions about AI we wanted to ask Micah. We asked Oriana to help us find some information.”

Zara glanced sideways at Kenny. He lied calmly and confidently–he must be used to it!

Following his lead, Zara smiled sweetly. “Yeah, Noah, I was just at home with nothing to do, tinkering with some inventions. I didn’t want to bother Mr. Caldwell, so I asked Oriana for help.”

Noah wasn’t so easily fooled. Narrowing his eyes, he eyed Zara and Kenny suspiciously. “Most of the stuff in this room has already been moved. What else could you be looking for? Don’t tell me Micah and Oriana had some kind of fight?”

Noah’s intuition was sharp. Zara and Kenny felt goosebumps rise instantly.

“Grandpa, what a joke. How could Micah ever bear to fight with Oriana?” Kenny said, laughing nervously,
