My Stepsister Returned To Rewrite Fate But I Became Luna (Chloe) novel Chapter 103

Chapter 103

Chloe’s POV

Jax’s declaration fell from his lips so easily that the entire crowd watching the show was stunned.

“He could not hold it in anymore,” Axel said in between his laughter. He had been cracking jokes about Jax’s face. as Hannah was speaking.

I could not resist and kept laughing, despite how evidently offensive it seemed. On a surface level, pitied Jax. His mate had gone behind his back to get pregnant, most likely so she could use her baby as a tool to climb the hierarchy.

When I think of what happened to me in my past life, Hannah started to seem luckier than me.

At least, she was able to have children. Jax’s mistress had poisoned me and killed my womb so she was the only one who could bear his heir. I had died by her hands.

In this life, Hannah might be secure in her position because she has a child. That is, of course, until Jax decides that he is done with their marriage and lets her be killed by some woman who came out of nowhere and bewitched

him.

“Jax,” I said, leaning back in my chair and crossing my arms. “You are going to be a father now. You cannot expect to not make a few sacrifices for your child.”

“I mean, he hardly ever slept in the room anyway,” Axel commented. Our eyes met, our minds flashing back to the night of our date where Luna Diane caught Jax trying to sneak out of the packhouse.

I bit on the inside of my cheek, chanting to myself not to laugh but Axel would not have that.

“I mean, he is a man that understands sacrifice. Depriving himself of sleep every night so his woman could be properly pleasured.”

The chuckle bubbled out of my lips before I could help it.

All eyes instantly snapped to me and I ducked my head, trying to get myself under control. “Axel Everdeen,” 1 hissed.

He turned to me with wide eyes. “Yes, darling. Is there a problem?” Before I could say a word, he added louder.” Do you want a bigger room as well?”

The words had barely settled in the room before we both burst into a new round of laughter. Hannah and Jax flushed an unhealthy shade of red. They looked like they wanted to claw both of our tongues out.

Their expressions only made Axel laugh more. He dropped his upper body forward, his head resting in my thigh as his entire body shook. I had no idea why his younger brother becoming a father was so funny to him.

Hannah recovered first and she moved closer to the table. “Chloe, you do not need to be so bitter that you do not have a child like me. These things come by fate.”

I scanned her from head to toe. “Like being pregnant at eighteen is supposed to be a cause for joy.”

Her eyes hardened. “When I am carrying an heir of the pack, then, yes. It is a cause for joy. I am a full-fledged daughter-in-law of this pack now. Don’t worry, if you marry in, I can give you some pointers.”

Bitch. Why did she have to make everything into a competition? Now, I felt petty enough to find something to spite her with.

“Aw. Congratulations. I will save your child a spot in the nursery.” I lowered my voice. “Oh, wait. That privilege is only for those who live in the pack house.”

“Are the two of you done?” Jax spat venomously.

“I promise we were not talking about you,” I said and Axel’s laughter got louder. I slapped his back. “Ignore him. He gets like this sometimes. As we were saying…”

“Chloe, your little bitch-”

“Do not speak to your brother’s mate like that!” Alpha Paul snapped as he took his seat. “She made a very good point. Hannah will need a bigger room.”

Hannah smirked proudly at me. “Alpha, Chloe is not yet married to Axel so why don’t I move into her room for now? I am sure that she can manage in the room opposite Jax’s.”

She looked down at me, her eyes shining like she knew something I did not. “She should be used to it anyway… small rooms, I mean.”

Flexing her past knowledge on me, was it? Alright.

“Axel, I think my sister still has feelings for you,” I said in a small voice, feigning sadness. “Why else would she want to stay in a room with a connecting door to yours?”

I pretended to wipe a stray tear from my eyes. “I know you want an heir. Maybe she thinks that you will find her more attractive now that she is pregnant and make her your Luna.”

Axel straightened, his eyes filled with mischief. He cupped my cheek and pressed a kiss to my forehead.

My eyes widened at that. I wanted him to play along but it was in times like this that he felt way too cooperative.
