Chapter 105
Chloe’s POV
I was woken up from sleep by chatter outside my bedroom. The first thing I checked was the time.
It was nearly seven in the morning, two hours after the time I usually wake up. I sat up slowly, my head hurting before slowly realizing that there was someone else in my bed.
When I turned, I saw Luna Diane lying on her back, pictures and drawings of cloth designs scattered all around her. That was when my memories rushed back in.
Goddess. What time had we gone to sleep?
We had been up practically through the night, looking through clothing options that we had been so tired and knocked out without realizing. That was when someone knocked on the door.
No, not knocked. Pounded on the door like I was owing them money.
With much difficulty, I crawled out of bed to the door and opened it. Alpha Paul stood on the other side, his eyes frantic as he tried to look past me into the bedroom.
“Where is my mate?” he spat at me like I kidnapped her.
My brows scrunched and I turned around, limping back to the bed. Why did my body hurt so much? It felt like I had been run over by a freight train.
As we walked, I kicked something on the floor. The bottle rolled from my feet and slammed against the bedpost, shattering. The sound woke Luna Diane up with a start.
She sat up on the bed, looking around confusedly. “Chloe? Where are you?”
“Luna,” I replied groggily, my headache growing. She reached for me as I climbed back into the bed. Instantly, sleep tried to pull me under again.
That was until Alpha Paul decided that I did not deserve rest and yanked me up by my arm. “You gave my mate alcohol?!”.
A hand closed around his wrist. “Do you think Mother would have wanted to get drunk without her permission, Father?” Axel asked his father, his brow raised.
Blame it on the sleep deprivation but Axel looked undeniably handsome as he defended me in front of his father. Alpha Paul let go of me and I fell back.
Before I could drop to the ground, Axel caught me and lifted me into his arms. “We leave you and Mother alone for one night and the two of you get drunk,” he muttered.
“I did not drink,” I said at the same time that Luna Diane said, “Chloe did not drink.”
The reason my body ached so much was because somehow, Luna Diane got extra hyper-active when drunk in the middle of the night. I spent the whole night joining her as we worked out around the room.
My lazy bones ached, especially after Luna Diane insisted that we both push our wolves to the back of our minds.
She pushed her mate away and stumbled towards me, her hand reaching to cup my cheek. “You look like a mess, Chloe. Axel, run her a bath. Paul, go get breakfast.”
“Excuse me?” the two men asked at the same time and Luna Diane looked between them like they were stupid.

She held my hand and started to lead us both to the bathroom. “Chloe, we need to take care of things ourselves Sometimes. Men are unreliable.”
My head tilted as Luna Diane kept talking about how we should be strong, independent women and I wondered how much of that she lived by.
I did not know anything about Luna Diane’s personal life or relationship but she looked like the perfect Luna from the outside, quiet and helpful, not involving herself in matters that concerned the men.
Was that truly her personality? People said that drunken thoughts are true thoughts.
Luna Diane was no doubt herself right now and knew what she was saying but she was saying them anyway. Did she know something about my plans to leave Axel and build a life for myself?
Before she entered the bathroom, Alpha Paul caught her from behind. “Come on, darling. I will run you a bath myself. Axel.” He gestured his son’s head towards me.
