My Stepsister Returned To Rewrite Fate But I Became Luna (Chloe) novel Chapter 108

Chapter 108

Chloe’s POV

The Alphas were ushered into the largest conference room in the guest hall to wait.

“Eleven Alphas gathered in one place, looking for a teenage girl?” Mara asked, peeking from the corner of the window into the room. “Chloe, are you sure you did not piss someone off?”

“I did not piss anyone off,” I said calmly, my arms wrapped around myself.

I know I had asked Moonflame for help with publicity but they had really outdone themselves. For this many people to gather in one place, they must have talked up the pill so much that it became this famous.

“Luna!”

When I heard Asher’s voice, I let out a sigh of relief. Him and Killian were running towards me, wearing suits that looked out of place with their young, boyish features.

“I am so sorry. It was such short notice and we did not know that they would be here,” I apologized, helping Killian to straighten his crooked tie and collar. “You guys know what to do, right?”

They nodded and before I could say anything else, there was a click of the tongue behind me.

“Boldly bringing her lovers into the pack,” Hannah said loudly enough for all of us to hear. “Thank the goddess that she would no longer be tied to us when it is time for her head to roll.”

I rolled my eyes, not bothering to turn around to look at her. “If you do not open your mouth to talk, no one will think you are mute.”

“You-”

I cut into whatever she wanted to say as I patted the shoulders of both the guys. “Alpha and Luna Everdeen are inside and so are the young Alphas. This is a one-time opportunity.”

They looked at each other and nodded before heading into the conference room.

Mara and I walked in a few seconds after them and tried to run towards the back of the conference room. As I passed by Axel, he grabbed my hand and pulled me down into the seat beside him.

“Just where do you think you are going?” he whispered as the guys started their presentation.

I shushed him, nudging for him to listen.

As always, they were excellent. Granted that this was a product that they were supposed to create years from now, they were able to answer every question with ease.

Everything was going great until someone raised their hand and asked, “According to our intel, you two are not the only creators of this compound. There was a third.”

As if on cue, all eyes turned to me. I smiled at thent, trying to disappear into my seat.

“Yes, Luna Chloe. While most of it was our research, she was the one who gave us the final spark that we needed to break through. Besides, without her funding, this project would have hardly kicked off the ground at all.”

More like Axel’s funding but that did not really matter to anyone else, right?

Suddenly, this became an interview session and I slowly realized that they were not here for the pill. They were

Young Luna, Heard that you have your bachelor’s degree at seventeen. How exactly is that possible?”

“Why not step forward and claim credit for yourself? You even let Moonflame share in the glory.”

“This is groundbreaking. What other ideas do you have for the world of biology?”

“How much is your patent valuated at? There have been sales in the millions, no?”

My fingers instinctively clenched around Axel’s thigh and he pulled me closer into his body, tucking my face in his chest. A low growl slipped from his lips. “Back.”

The Alphas flinched and resettled in their chairs, squirming with discomfort. Alpha Paul decided to put me out of my misery and step in.

“Alphas, it seems that your intention for approaching today is clear but this is not the way you ask questions to a member of my family. I will not stand for that.”

The Alphas looked at each other and then nodded. “So the opportunity for questions are available?”

Axel looked down at me, checking for my permission. He could have just agreed, especially since this would be a way to improve his standing and reputation as Alpha but he did not.

If I said no, he really was going to refuse me.

Since I was leaving soon, I might as well help him this once.

If I was able to cultivate good relationships that would sustain his legitimacy to the Alpha position, it would be enough payment for all the ways he had helped me these past few months.

I pushed away from Axel and sat up. “Um…one at a time.”

I spent the next two hours answering non-stop questions. The only reason it did not extend further was that Axel ordered everyone to back off so I could go and eat breakfast.

“You will continue this later,” he said, shielding me with his body as we walked away.

The moment we stepped out of the guest hall, Alpha Paul said. “My office. All of you.” He sent Axel an annoyed glance. “We will eat breakfast in the office.”

Axel nodded and we all walked. Alpha and Luna in front. Axel and I. Then, Jax, Hannah and David trailing behind quietly. They had been very quiet since the conference started.

We had barely settled and started eating when Alpha Paul said. “How much is your patent valued at?”

I could not answer that in the conference room but this was now somewhat of an internal pack affair and I did not see why I could not tell Alpha Paul. It was not like he could snatch it from me.
