My Stepsister Returned To Rewrite Fate But I Became Luna (Chloe) novel Chapter 109

Chapter 109

Chloe’s POV

“Father, all these questions you keep asking back to back,” Axel said, leaning closer over the desk. “Someone will think you wanted licensing rights.”

“I am already very pissed off that Moonflame got to claim sponsorship rights to your startup,” Alpha Paul hissed back at his son. “Do not drive me up the wall.”

Axel crossed his arms as he leaned back in his seat. “I mean, Chloe might have been able to come to you. If only someone wasn’t so…suspicious of her back then.”

“Axel,” I said at the same time his mother slapped his arm.

Alpha Paul did not have a response for his son so he simply clicked his tongue and turned back to me. “Is Moonflame taking a cut?”

“Nope. They are just holding onto my money for me.” I turned to David. “I did not have any legal guardian I could trust and the bank was not going to let me receive that much into my account.”

David flinched but remained seated and quiet, no doubt biding his time until we were out of here. If not for anything, then for animals like him, I should invest in self-defense training.

I could not always rely on my wolf to defend me and even though, she had to be trained as well.

“Enough of that,” Alpha Paul said. “Axel, open an account for her-”

“I need cosigners,” I interrupted to say. “As of this time, I am an orphan. We will just have to wait until my eighteenth birthday before I ask that my money be moved.”

“You trust Moonflame more than us?” Luna Diane asked quietly. “Your own pack?”

I was silent for a few seconds to tell them the answer that I would never admit out loud. Then I smiled. “I just don’t think there is a point moving the money ahead of time. I do not need it right now anyway.”

David shot to his feet. “Your money should remain with you, not outsiders. That patent as well…they said it. It was your idea. You should be the main contributor listed.”

I had to thank the Goddess for her timing. If I had broken ties with these people any later, they would have sucked me dry in the name of being my legal guardians.

My runaway fund would be gone before it even got into my hands.

“David, how I choose to handle my money is really none of your business,” I said calmly, my tone condescending like I was talking to a child. “I am discussing this with Alpha and Luna because they will be my parents-in-law soon. You…”

I scanned him from head to toe. “You are, at best, just here to listen and nod. Just like Jax.”

I smiled at my ex-husband, thinking of what my past life would have been like if I had come into this kind of money before or during the time I was mated to him.

If he was able to blow pack funds on his woman, what more of my personal money? Maybe he would have focused solely on those funds, leaving pack funds untouched so it could boost his reputation as a great Alpha.

He and Hannah really deserved each other. I could not see that past the haze of love and devotion to him.

When we finished eating, I checked the time. “Luna, it’s still eleven. We might be able to hit a few stores before dinner table.”

Luna Diane and I got to our feet and Alpha Paul started to call us back.

“Hey. Hey. Hold on. We have not spoken about the licensing thing-”

“Killian and Asher have a lawyer. I will give you his number,” I said over my shoulder as Luna Diane dragged me

away.

When we opened the door, we caught Hannah standing outside, pacing back and forth: Her face lit up and crashed the moment she saw us.

“Luna…” Her eyes trailed to me. “You two are off somewhere?”

Luna Diane simply moved her out of the way as she led me upstairs to the Alpha floor.

When we were alone, Luna Diane held me closer. “Chloe, how are you so sensible? It does not make any sense.”.

“What?” What was she talking about?

“That whole drama this morning just to get your family to cut ties with you.”

She looked up at me and for a moment, I saw Axel’s mischief in her eyes. “It was a very calculated move. I cannot believe that David would be able to rest if he heard that there was six million in your possession.”
