“These do not take any money to build,” I explained to the men, pointing to the building blueprints on the table.” Even if they are just made of logs, they are still safer than tents for you.”

Andrew stepped through the entrance of the tent. “Luna, thank you…but don’t you think it is about time you should go home? The rest of the supplies have been distributed.”

I smiled at him. “That was my job. You did not have to do that.”

“Luna?” one of the men asked.

“Is there a problem?”

“He called you Luna…is that your birth name or…”

The rest of the people in the tent leaned closer, anticipating my reply. I smiled and nodded. “I am Axel’s fiancee.”

Gasps and murmurs swept through the tent, some of the residents who were listening outside coming into the -tent.

“The future Luna came to serve us herself?”

“I knew something about her was special.”

“If the future Luna is so kind, think of how much the pack will prosper after now.”

I let out a small sigh, leaving the tent for them. As long as they were not prying intrusively into my life and relationship with Axel, they could think what they wanted to think.

“Luna, are you sure you should not be getting back soon?” Jon, one of the local refugee camp guards asked me as I walked into my tent. “You have a long trek ahead of you.

Even Hannah would not be so stupid to actually arrive home without me or a very convincing cover story, right? What would she tell Luna Diane?

“Let me pack up my things.”

The sun was just peeking through the clouds. It was still sunrise. If I started off now. I might make it back before nightfall.

My eyes closed and I imagined my wolf breaking out of my skin. It hurt just as bad as I remembered. Every crack echoed in my ear but before long, I was standing on four feet, my senses stretching in every direction around me.

I picked up my clothes with my teeth.

I swear I would give Hannah the slap I owed her when we reunited.

“Who is it?” a patrol guard asked me as I approached the border.

It was almost midnight and I had been running almost non-stop for eighteen hours.

I backtracked behind a tree and shifted into my human form, changing my clothes. No one could know I had shifted yet.
