My Stepsister Returned To Rewrite Fate But I Became Luna (Chloe) novel Chapter 12

Chapter 12

Chloe’s POV

Hannah’s body was rigid with shock.

She turned around comically slowly to look at me, her breaths coming out in short bursts. “C-Chloe, when did you

arrive?”

I bent over with a smirk. “For someone who was sobbing so deeply, you do not look very happy to see…sister.”

Her story had instantly lost its credibility as everyone looked at me, covered in mud, sweat and tiny blisters, head to toe. Clearly from working.

She claimed that I had vanished, been kidnapped even. How then did I arrive here, just one hour after she did?

Hannah scrambled to her feet, determined to continue her act. She ran to hug me but I sidestepped her, causing her to trip over her feet and stumble forward.

Before she could hit the ground, I gave her the slap that I had been thinking about for the past eighteen hours.

Contrary to what I thought, the red mark did nothing to sate my anger.

“Chloe Waterson!” Jax snarled, coming down the stairs in a blur. “How dare you put your hands on my mate?”

“Hit me!” I snapped at him, raging at the hypocritical idiot. “Do it! I do not regret hitting her one bit.”

Hannah saw her chance to play the sweet, bullied sister. She let out an evidently fake sob but he was too blind to

notice it.

Jax lowered beside her, lifting her to an upright position. I rolled my eyes.

One slap and they treated it like I had stabbed her.

Hannah cupped his cheek. “You don’t need to yell at her. It is my fault. I should have known that she did not want to see me.” She dissolved into a coughing fit.

Jax snapped to his feet and grabbed my arm, his grip bruising. “Apologize to her. Apologize to Hannah right now!”

The only reason I did not hit him was that his mother was standing right there.

“Let go of me,” I said coldly. He refused to budge so I grabbed his wrist and threw his hand off me. “I said, let go of me.”

Jax took one step backwards and scoffed. “Hannah must be such a saint to deal with your rotten attitude all these years. If I had a sister like you, I might have snapped and killed you in your sleep.”

I crossed my arms. “If she was so concerned about me, she should have sent someone to the refugee camp to look for me.”

The room stilled, Luna Diane looking from me to Hannah who was now trembling on the ground.

“Sent someone?” Luna Diane said slowly. “What does she mean?”

Hannah was about to open her mouth and no doubt, release lies that would stink up the whole place.

Not this time.

I had lost a lot of mini battles recently but Hannah had crossed from petty squabbles into putting me in actual

danger. I could not let this go.

“Don’t you dare lie,” I hissed. “There are hundreds of people who can testify that I carried out the distribution alone.”
