My Stepsister Returned To Rewrite Fate But I Became Luna (Chloe) novel Chapter 111

Chapter 111

Chloe’s POV

“What are you doing here?” I asked him, keeping my entire body stiff so I did not flinch away.

His hands remained on me as he slid into the chair beside me. “I was in the area and decided to drop by. I will be leaving soon.”

He reached over and plucked a pickle off my plate and his nose scrunched. “How do you eat this stuff?” Regardless, he put it in his mouth. “So, what were we talking about?”

Luna Diane easily steered the conversation to something else. The young Alpha meet and what it was it was likely

to be like.

“Axel has not been to one before actually. He always turned down invitations.” Luna Diane smiled. One of those her mischievous smiles that I had the honor of seeing these days. “Crane was always so upset that you never took

Celestia.”

Hearing Crane’s name, I leaned closer in my seat. I never did find out what happened to them after Alpha Paul caught wind of their treason.

If there was some form of execution, I had a feeling that Alpha Paul would make it public just so they would serve as an example to the rest of the pack.

Axel’s hand closing over mine interrupted what I was thinking. “You do not have to worry about Celestia anymore. Father handled it.”

How did he know what I was thinking? I prided myself on having good control of my motions that I doubted that he could see my thoughts on my face.

Was he starting to get used to my thought process? Maybe I had spent so much more time around him recently. Too much time.

A few months ago, I would not be caught dead or alive, having lunch out of my own volition with Axel and his mother.

“She looks like she wants to bolt,” Luna Diane mused out loud and Axel threw his head back and laughed.

“Goddess. Tell me about it. Sometimes, it’s so adorable how antsy she is. Sometimes, I wonder if I offended her in a past life for her not to trust me this much.”

Hearing his words, I flinched subtly and then, a dangerous thought appeared in my mind. Axel. Past life.

He had also died an early death. Was it possible that….

I shook my head. No way. If he was also reborn, I would have known by now. Besides, his choices would be different.

He would be better off remaining single while trying to find the root cause of his death. He also would not have entertained the Crane family for as long as he did.

Most especially, he would not have proposed to me. I was a love sick idiot in my past life.

“Luna, we should finish up quickly,” I said, pushing away the half-eaten sandwich towards Axel. He was already picking at it anyway. “I need to get back to my etiquette lessons.”

Before I could say anything, Axel waved his hands and someone appeared from behind us with a box of pastries.

When the man opened it, my mouth watered.

You don’t like bread,” Axel stated matter-of-factly. “Or pickles. I thought to bring you something else on my way.”

The first thought that entered my head was that he was spying on my eating routines through Viktor, his mother or some secret bodyguard that I did not know was tailing me.

The second thought came immediately afterwards, accompanied by warmth that he had gone out of his way to get me cupcakes.

“And it’s from that nice place downtown,” I whispered, picking up one. “Don’t you have to wait in line to get it? You said you were just passing by.”

Axel blinked and then, his ears reddened. “I was just passing by, really. The cupcakes were….for later. I bought them this morning to give you later and could not wait.”

Goddess. This man. Did he forget our arrangement?

You do not bring cupcakes to a girl who was going to leave you in mere weeks.

Regardless, I took the box because it seemed like such a good thing to just waste. “Thank you,” I said as I took a

bite.

Flavours exploded in my mouth, causing my eyes to flutter shit. What the hell?

These were the best pastries I had ever eaten. My other hand tightened on his sleeve as I moaned through the rest of the cupcake in my mouth, instantly reaching for another one.

“Goddess, I could kill you,” I said without thinking and both our eyes widened.

Chloe Waterson. Selling your soul to the devil because of a cupcake.

Axel snapped to his feet. “Well, Mother. I should get going. I just came to say hi.”

“Chloe needs a brush up on her etiquette lessons,” Luna Diane said, halting Axel in his tracks.

Axel looked down at his mother. “You are her teacher. Aren’t you, Mother?”

Luna did not even look apologetic as she replied, “My old bones do not work the way they used to. I do not have the strength to help her with this right now-”
