My Stepsister Returned To Rewrite Fate But I Became Luna (Chloe) novel Chapter 112

Chapter 112

Chloe’s POV

I set it down on the table and closed it. “Sorry, I should not have peeked in like that.”

Though I looked like the epitome of calm on the outside, inside, I was raging like a thunderstorm.

Axel had already given me a ring to wear, something small that everyone would know that I was unavailable for. the time being.

This ring was beautiful, the kind of ring you bought for someone you wanted to spend the rest of your life with And he had clearly not been planning for me to see it.

Was there another woman on the side? It would not surprise me if there was.

I was the one who wanted him to have his options open when Celestia came. If she had just been patient enough to wait until I was gone before making her move on Axel, I might have left her and her family alone.

After all, once I was gone, the internal affairs of Everdeen would not concern me. Then, he would need a woman who truly cared about him and his pack to be by his side.

My hands wrung together under the table, the creamy goodness in my mouth, now tasting like soot.

Why was I so upset at the thought of there being another woman? It was not like he was mine anyway.

“It is a beautiful ring by the way,” I muttered, trying to compensate for my silence but the words only came out flat and weak.

Axel smiled tightly. “I hope he thinks so too.”

The air around the table went even more quiet. “He?” Luna Diane asked. “Did you just say he?”

Axel looked confused as he stared between his mother and me. “Yes, I was buying it for—”

Luna Diane did not even wait for him to finish before she pounced and dragged him back to the table by his ear. Then, to the hearing of everyone around us, she yelled, “You’re gay? Who do you expect to continue the family line?”

A collective groan exploded around us. Girls walked away, muttering about the good ones always being gone. Guys in the area started to step closer.

Axel was beyond mortified. He pulled his mother’s hand off his ear. “Mother, I am not gay. Lucien is getting married and he asked me for help picking out a ring since I have a better eye for jewelry.”

Luna Diane looked him up and down like he was spewing utter nonsense. “Then, what the hell was that smile? Are you in love with Lucien or something?”

“I am not in love with anyone.” His hand ran through his hair. “Mother, I am very attracted to women, okay? I am not gay.”

“So Lucien does not have a mother or a sister or any other female relative?”

“Who will not spill the news to his girlfriend? No.” He grabbed his mother’s shoulders. “Lucien is my best friend. The least I can do is help him pick up a ring.”

Axel finally looked at me, his face still completely red. “I am not gay, okay?”

I nodded, my lips pressed together tightly to keep myself from laughing. The entire situation had dissolved into a Completely hilarious state that I did not expect.

“Why don’t you get going? I will see you back home,” I said and after reassuring his mother, a few more times, he finally left.

Luna Diane and I quickly returned to our shopping.

When we got home, the sun was just setting. Luna Diane stumbled out of the car like she was drunk and disappeared first into the house.

A moment later, we heard screaming.

“I am not taking you to the Alpha meet,” Jax snapped at Hannah, pinching the bridge of his nose.

She was the one who was screaming and crying, while finding a way to maintain her makeup perfectly. “I am your mate. The mother of your child. Why won’t you…”

She sniffed and let out another loud wail again.

Luna Diane stopped near the stairs, her eyes squinting in irritation. “Can you continue this in your very sound proof bedrooms? No one will bother you there.”

Hannah rushed to Luna Diane’s side and held her hand. “Luna, you said that Jax and I were going to the young Alpha’s meet. He wants to leave me at home. Tell him not to-”

“I cannot force him to take you,” Luna interjected without sparing either her son or his mate a glance. “I said that because I assumed he would take you. I guess I was wrong.”

Wanting to add fuel to the fire, I stepped closer to Luna Diane, moving like I was heading up the stairs.

“The Alphas are going to be showing off their mates there, aren’t they? I heard that some who had problematic mates did not bring them to the meetings…maybe problematic is not the right word…”
