My Stepsister Returned To Rewrite Fate But I Became Luna (Chloe) novel Chapter 113

Chapter 113

Chloe’s POV

I knew Hannah well enough to know that if she said that she would slit her wrist, she would do it.

However, Jax and Luna Diane did not believe that she would really do it. Jax stood arms crossed as he rolled his eyes. “Go ahead,” he spat. “Go on. You want to be such a bitch because of Hannah!”

I darted forward and knocked the shard out of her hand right as it nicked her wrist. Jax practically shoved me out of the way as he scooped her into his arms.

I stumbled backwards and knocked back against the stairs, catching myself in time before my head could slam against the iron rails.

Irritation flooded me on the inside. I lift a finger to help and next thing I know, I am being shoved like I am the problem.

Clutching my hurting arm, I turned up the stairs. “Luna, I want to get some rest. The day has been hectic,” I said as I passed beside her.

She nodded, patting my back once gently as she glared down at Jax and Hannah. I was not sure if she was going to speak to them afterwards but I did not imagine that it would be a very pleasant conversation.

I went to my room and immediately my head touched the pillow, knocked out from exhaustion.

When I woke up, it was to the smell of warm soup. I sat up groggily, blinking as I tried to clear my blurry vision. Outside was dark but not so dark that I could not spot the figure moving around my room.

“What are you doing here?” I asked Axel and he did not look up from where he was folding some of my clothes that I had left out after the maid returned my laundry.

“You left the door open when you came back. I saw the place was disorganized so I wanted to help,” he said, like an Alpha cleaning up for some random girl was the most normal thing in the world.

“You could have asked one of the maids to help,” I muttered.

Axel chuckled low. “I know how much you hate other people touching your things. I know how you keep your stuff so it’s fine.”

I climbed out of bed, swaying the closer I got to him. Just how exhausted was I?

I had taken about five steps when the ground tilted beneath me. Axel caught him easily, picking me up gently and laying me back in the bed.

“You just stay here and let me handle it, okay?” he said and pecked my forehead before lifting the duvet to cover my body.

He then returned to the door and came back with a tray with the soup I smelled earlier steaming from it. He lifted the bowl to my lips. “Come on. You have not eaten much all day.”

“I can feed myself,” I whispered, my eyes now perfectly adjusted to his face. He wore a warm expression, something I could not remember anyone looking at me with in years.

Even after my words, he did not move, moving the spoon closer to my mouth stubbornly. I opened my mouth and took a sip, my eyes widening slightly as the flavors.

“You like it?” he asked. “I made it myself. Grandma’s recipe.”

Hearing that he made it himself seemed to make the food taste even better. I reached for the bowl again and he moved it out of my grip, raising just the spoon to my lips.

There was no point in resisting him. I closed my eyes and let him feed me.

When the bowl was half-drunk, he set it down by the bedside, before returning to hanging up my clothes. I sat up in the bed, staring at him move like he had done this a million times.

An Alpha that cleaned up after himself? I had never heard of one.

Jax was more than just entitled. He was a pig. If I did not clean up after him while he partied up with his numerous women, none of them would have wanted to enter his room afterwards.

And it had to be my job strictly. No one, not even the maids, could find some other woman’s lingerie in his bedroom and realize that he was cheating.

It was a bit funny that the fact that I washed our bedsheets every single day spread through the pack and everyone thought that Jax and I were that sexually active.

As the rumours spread of our love, so did the stories about my barrenness.

If they were always so intimate, why was she still childless?

At the same time, another narrative started to build up.

Alpha Jax must be a saint for choosing to remain with a barren Luna.

“Chloe,” Axel said. His voice snapped through the haze of regret and self pity growing in my head.

I looked up at him to see him standing closer than I remembered. He sat beside my bed and helped me lay down. “You should get some rest. We have etiquette lessons in the morning. Also, Father will likely continue to badger you about licensing the pill to him.”

I nodded, tucking the duvet up to my chin as I suddenly realized the position we were in.

It was the dead of night and he was in my bedroom on my bed with me. Had no unruly thoughts crossed his mind at all?
