My Stepsister Returned To Rewrite Fate But I Became Luna (Chloe) novel Chapter 13

Chapter 13

Chloe’s POV

I had been walking past Luna Diane’s office when Hannah was thrown out and had the door slammed in her face.

Her hand raised to knock on the door again but froze, clenching into a fist. She stomped on the ground, letting out a whimper and turned around, about to leave when she saw me.

The smirk on my face must have infuriated her so she walked right to me, looking for a way to vent/her anger.

“You think you have won, haven’t you?” she spat. “Luna Diane let me back in the lessons. All it took was one conversation with her.”

When would she wake up and realize that I was not competing for anyone’s favour with her?

All I wanted was peace until I was able to leave the pack when I was old enough to legally do so.

Seeing that she got no reaction from me, her jaw tightened as she fumed. Suddenly, something caught her gaze over my head and she smirked.

She reached beside me, grabbed a vase and slammed it on her head. My eyes widened and I took a step away from her before any of the shards could pierce me.

Was she crazy?

Who was I kidding? Of course, she was.

As she fell to the ground, she let out a scream. “Chloe, please stop hitting me. I will not compete with you for Luna Diane’s attention! I only want to be in the lessons too!”

I was too stunned to speak.

This was the second to the highest floor of the pack house with only the offices, libraries and conference rooms on this floor. Who was she performing for?

That was when I heard footsteps behind me. That scent…

I whirled around and came face to face with Axel.

The closer Axel got, the more energy Hannah put into her act. My heart clogged my throat as I started to think of how I would talk myself out of this.

Would he even believe me?

Hannah wiped the corner of her eyes. “Axel, you should not blame Chloe. She is still bitter about me mistaking that she was kidnapped the other…day…”

She trailed off when she realized that Axel was not even looking at her.

He held my hands. “Hey, I have been looking for you all morning. Where have you been?”

I blinked at him, my gaze darting between his hands on mine and the damsel in distress on the ground. Did he not see her?

Where was that intrinsic desire to protect a crying woman that should be in every man?

“Ah, I did not have lessons with Luna Diane so I was in the kitchen,” I said slowly, waiting, expecting him to turn

He did not. Instead, his fingers trailed along the sweat on my forehead. “Tony said you wash dishes. You should not do that.”

To anyone’s ears, it would sound like he cared for me. In reality, he was scolding me.

What did it make him and the Alpha family look like if their daughter in law was washing dishes like a common maid?

Hannah moved her palm and stabbed on the glass shards on the ground. The stench of iron filled the air and she clutched her hand, her entire body trembling.

“Ow…” she said in a small voice.

That time, Axel looked at her. Now having his attention, her tears doubled and she shook her head. “Axel, it’s not her fault. I was the one who stupidly moved my hand-”

“Good that you know,” he said, his fingers intertwining with mine. He started to pull me as we walked away.

The shock on Hannah’s face was nothing compared to the shock on mine.

Even if he was cold, she spent years pining after him, bringing him meals, going on dates, throwing elaborate arrangements every year on his birthday.

He did not even look fazed at her bleeding out to the ground.
