My Stepsister Returned To Rewrite Fate But I Became Luna (Chloe) novel Chapter 125

Chapter 125

Chloe’s POV

The moment Luna Diane saw us, her eyes flamed. She stomped out of the pack house and grabbed Axel’s ear, twisting it hard.

“Where the hell have the two of you been? The entire pack has been looking for you!”

Axel gently tapped her wrist. “Mother. Mother. Hold on. Let me explain.”

“Explain what?!” she snapped. “You know that you and Chloe need to leave early this morning and you took her last night and disappeared.”

She looked between the two of us and let out an annoyed breath. “And why are you both soaked? Were you playing in the waterfall or something?”

Axel and I glanced at each other and instantly glanced away. How embarrassing would it be to admit to everyone listening that we had spent most of the night playing with the water of the lake before finally falling asleep on the

grass.

By the time we woke up, the sun beating down on our faces already told us that Luna Diane was going to bury us alive.

“Chloe was supposed to have her cloth fittings after dinner yesterday. The tailors were here all night but you were a no-show. What is Chloe supposed to wear now?!”

I smiled nervously, trying to calm her. “I’m sure the clothes are fine. They are professionals. They would know my size-”

“Be quiet,” she snapped and I instantly jumped behind Axel, holding onto the back of his shirt. His other hand moved me behind him on instinct.

When Luna Diane saw that he was protecting me, her eye twitched and she turned around, heading back into the house. “Chloe, come here. You need to get your clothes fitted.”

As she stood in the doorway, she turned around to face her son. “And you!” Axel flinched. “Get all of your things to the car right now. And do not make me meet you in that state when I get back.”

“Yes, Mother.”

I walked behind Luna Diane, matching her steps so she would not find anything to be upset about again.

She took me to her dressing room and when she opened the door, four women who were seated inside turned. Their eyes instantly fixed on me and widened.

“Did you run through a waterfall or something?” one of them asked, walking towards me briskly. She tilted my head up with her handfan and nodded once. “She has a good face.”

I stared at her in confusion, wondering if that was a compliment. She said it the same way a buyer would speak about prime livestock.

“Come on, girls,” she said and instantly, I was boxed in on all four sides by the women.

The next half hour was a whirlwind of plucking, scrubbing, squeezing and poking before they eventually fit me into a dress that felt like milk on my skin.

Before I could even glance at myself in the mirror, they started on my hair and makeup, four of them moving in

sync as though racing against a clock.

They were about finished when Luna Diane returned to the room. When she saw me, her lips parted. “Chloe, you look…you look gorgeous.”

I smiled tightly. Could I be allowed to look at myself?

Before I could ask, she grabbed my hand and turned out of the room, walking quickly down the stairs. “We need to hurry. You all need to stop at Moonflame for dinner before heading to the meet.”

That was why the journey would take two days.

I stumbled after her in the heels, somehow keeping up with her strides. Axel was waiting beside the car in a matching jean jacket and trousers and blindingly white shoes.

His face was doing enough of the work of making him look refined that I did not feel overdressed beside him.

When he spotted me, his eyes widened before shamelessly raking over me from top to bottom. I’instinctively took a step back, curling my lips in disgust.

His cheeks tinted as he composed himself before walking towards me and taking my hand. “You look beautiful,” he said gently, taking my hand.

“Thanks,” I muttered and we started to walk to the car together. Behind us, two of our warriors came down and loaded two more boxes of clothes into the car. My clothes.

Before I entered, I turned around and waved to Luna Diane. She looked to be forcing herself to smile as she waved back.

“Take care of yourself. If anyone bothers you, just let Axel handle it.” There was a short pause in her words and when she spoke, her voice was heavier. “If you want to come back home, call me.’
