Chapter 127
x’s POV
The moment the doors of the plane were opened, the young mistress of Moonflame ran out of her house, barefeet.
Chloe had just gotten to the ground when Sandra embraced her and they both started jumping. “Oh my gosh, girl. L have missed you so much. You said you would come to visit soon!”
“I kept my promise, did I not? This was the quickest I could get away from the pack,” Chloe replied. “Due to a few incidents recently, everyone’s eyes have been on me.”
Sandra let her head fall back as she let out an annoyed groan. “Tell me about it. I swear either Darius or Mum brings you up every other day. As it turns out, he found his mate but she is such a fangirl-”
“Chloe Waterson,” a voice said to our left.
We all turned to the unfamiliar figure: a young woman our age with fiery red hair. Her basket clattered to the ground as her gaze actually fixed on Chloe.
“It’s actually you,” the woman said and rushed forward to take Chloe’s hand, shaking it firmly.
“My name is Riven. I have heard so much about you. It is an honour. I…wow, you’re actually here! Like in front of me!”
Chloe smiled, though it was obvious that she was confused. She then glanced at Sandra. “And you are Darius’ mate? Real mate?”
Riven nodded, waving her hand in the air like she had not just announced that she would be the future Luna of Moonflame. “Yeah, we met a few weeks ago. He is a jerk.”
“I heard that,” Darius said, coming up behind her.
The closer he was, the more my throat seemed to clog. Was that just his pure Alpha energy? I had never met another Alpha heir on the same level as Axel!
Hannah beside me forced herself to breathe slowly, holding her chest. When we were in the presence of other Alphas, it was easier to manage as many of them knew how to rein in their energy.
That said, Darius was powerful enough to do so as well. It was only when I saw him glance back at me that I realized that he was totally doing it on purpose.
However, when he got to Axel and Chloe, neither of them behaved like they noticed. Chloe interacted with him like everything was normal.
“You look more beautiful than the last time I saw you,” he said and shook her hand gently. My eyes widened.
Did he have feelings for her or something? Why would he speak to her so gently in front of his mate?
Sandra stepped forward and hugged Chloe to herself. “She is mine. None of you get to take her away.”
Riven grabbed Chloe’s other hand. “But you had her the last time. I want her this time around….maybe we can share. We can rotate the days.”
The two women started to negotiate on who got to spend more time around Chloe with Darius and Axel chiming in to say they wanted their turns as well.
I watched the conversation with a weird feeling in my chest. None of them had even pretended to acknowledge us.

It was as though Hannah and I standing here were non-existent.

Me only reason Moonflame had invited us to dinner was not out of respect for our pack but because of Chloe. They adored her.

There was a loud clap and everyone turned in the direction of the sound. Luna Silvia of Moonflame stood on the back porch with a stern expression.
“Is this how I taught you to treat our guests?”
I let out a small sigh of relief. Even if she did not like us, she would not completely ignore us.
Before I could say anything, Chloe broke away from the group and ran towards Luna Silvia. My heart dropped to the concrete floor between my legs when she practically jumped on the older woman.
Goddess. Chloe was going to get us killed!
I was already preparing my apology when Luna Silvia put her arms around Chloe, holding her tightly. “I missed you too,” she whispered. “So much.”
Chloe sniffed like she was crying. Luna Silvia ran fingers through her hair, whispering reassurance into her ear. The scene was like a mother consoling her daughter.
My legs carried me a step back. Hannah had not been very troublesome these past few weeks and had offended Chloe on multiple occasions. The bruise from yesterday was still on Chloe’s wrist.
If Chloe decided to report us to Moonflame, I could completely forget ever getting their support. In fact, for offending their benefactor so deeply, it would not be a surprise if they decided to take their revenge against me.
Shit. How had Chloe been able to win all these powerful people to her side, that they would fight to spend time with her?
