Chapter 130
Cloe’s POV
A bang echoed through my room in the middle of the night, causing me to sit up.
I quickly scanned the room for danger and saw none.
The sound must have come from outside.
My breath caught in my throat as I climbed out of bed, moving to press my neck against the door. There was silence for the longest time and then, a loud bang in the distance.
I could barely keep the shriek from slipping out. Just then, my door opened and Axel stood in the doorway panting
“Moonflame is under attack!” he whispered. “I am going to help out. Stay here.”
I grabbed his arm without thinking as the scent of alcohol hit my nose. “You were drinking,” I said. “What do you think you are doing on a battlefield?”
Down the hall, the door opened and Hannah and Jax stepped out. “What’s going on?” Jax said, pulling his shirt over his head.
Hannah stood completely behind him, her eyes wide. I saw the exact moment realization dawned on her face. She instantly grabbed Jax’s hand. “Do not even think about going to fight those people.”
This incident had occurred in my past life. Hunters.
They had mobilized across a few packs in this area and attacked at the same time, looking for wolves to take back as test subjects.
Because they had banded with a few rogue packs, the scale of the battle was massive, dragging on for several days. I had not thought about them because they had not come near Everdeen or any of our surrounding packs.
Jax intertwined his fingers with Hannah’s but he still looked at Axel. “What is going on? Are you going to fight?”
“Of course, I am,” he snapped at his brother.
Jax should feel like a coward for choosing to stay back while a pack allied to his pack was being attacked but he did not have a bone of shamelessness in his body.
“Chloe, stay here,” Axel whispered, brushing his lips against my forehead. “I will be back before morning.”
“Okay,” I whispered, thinking of something I knew from the future that could help him. I came up short. “Don’t do anything foolish.”
He nodded and ran down the stairs. I took a step in his direction, my breath catching in my throat as he disappeared out of sight.
Chloe, calm down. He is an Alpha. He can handle a few rogues without breaking a sweat.
There was the pad of feet from upstairs and Riven started to rush down, her eyes frantic. That was when I remembered Darius and the injury he suffered after this battle, while trying to protect his father on the battlefield.
Because he had entered a coma, Moonflame was disstabilized for a few months.
“Oh,” Hannah said and I turned in time to see her cover her mouth with her hand to hide her smirk. My eyes were sharp with anger and disgust.

Hannah was wicked for no reason. Maybe it would benefit her if Axel died or was seriously injured but why did she→ drive pleasure from a random woman whose mate would be injured?
“Do you know where your mate is?” Riven asked me. Before I could respond, she turned down the stairs, already running
Jax moved faster than the, holding her arm. “Stay put. Let the men handle the battle. Your presence there as a woman will be a distraction-”
The words were barely out of his mouth before Riven growled and slapped him so hard that he stumbled backwards. She then turned her angry glare on Hannah.
“And you, the only reason I am sparing you for smiling like that is that you are pregnant,” she growled. “Do no test me, you low-born mutts.”
She looked back at me. “Chloe, did you promise Axel to be here?”
I nodded. “…are you going out there?”
It was not that I could not fight. I could. My wolf could take care of me in the case of a battle.
However, I would rather not put myself in danger, not when I had not started living my life for myself. Axel said he could handle it.
I trusted that he would.
Riven nodded once at me before darting out of the house. I rushed to the window of my bedroom in time to see her dart into the forest, already in wolf form.
My eyes widened. Silver. Her wolf had a silver coating. That kind of wolf was rare, one in a million.
“Chloe,” Jax said, sounding too close to me.
I whirled around quickly in panic and lost my footing. I would have tumbled out of the window if Jax had not caught me by my arm.
I stepped away, putting distance between our bodies.
