Chapter 154
Chloe’s POV
The royal family’s backup arrived very late. Too late for excuses.
Immediately Liam burst into the clearing, he shifted into human form, slipping on shorts that someone had handed him. “Chloe! Chloe!”
I snarled at him from the midst of the pile of bodies where I stood. Riven and Sandra were still handling the stranglers in the back but most of the attackers were dead.
Liam froze, his face twisting as I crushed one of the skulls I walked past. Blood stuck to my fur, matting it down to my skin.
I walked to Axel and tried to nudge him. He blinked awake, his tongue falling out of his mouth in a wolfish
grin.
My paw raised and smacked his head the first time. He flinched but let me smack his head again.
He let out a low whine in apology. I smacked his head for the third time before trying to raise him up with my body.
Liam finally snapped out of his stupor and told his guards to start moving the Alpha heirs to the infirmary. I followed after them in wolf form until they got to the hospital.
“Chloe, can you shift into human form?” Liam asked, coming closer to me with a towel and some clothes.
I nudged him to get out of my way as I found the nearest lake and washed myself in it. After that, I shook the water off myself and waited for some time for some of the water to dry.
He followed me the whole time, silent. At the doors of the infirmary, he told them to let me in wolf form.
The lobby was full of the Lunas, half of them sobbing. Whether it was because of their mates or fear or something else, I was not sure but the sight disgusted me.
I let out a loud growl and they all stopped and the crying instantly stopped, all their eyes turning to me.
I huffed and continued walking inside, following Axel’s scent to the operating room.
My wolf curled up in front of the doors, trying to track what was happening inside with my senses. He was still breathing.
The only thing that was keeping me sane right now was that he was still breathing.
This whole time, I could not help thinking about the fact that Axel had died in my previous life. It was not around this time or in this way but I was not a fool not to think that my past life had changed.
Someone wanted to kill him in my past life. That same person could be out for him in this life.
I had to keep my mate safe. I had to protect him.
No one. No human, wolf or anything in between. Absolutely no one could take him away from me.
There was the padding of feet behind me. Jax turned the corner, sheer panic in his eyes as he ran towards

the operating room.
When he saw me at the door, he stopped, his brows furrowing. “You, Chloe?”
Just then, Hannah had turned the corner. When she saw me, her eyes widened. Even if she had never seen me shift in this life, she would remember what my wolf would look like from her past life.
Only that now, I was bigger, faster and much stronger.
I got to four feet, standing with my head nearly at Jax’s chest. He took two steps back, his hands trembling.
“You…how do you look like an Alpha?” he gasped out.
Behind him, Hannah had lost her footing and was holding so tightly onto the wall that her fingers bruised.
I could see what was going on in her mind. How did this happen? Why was this different from my past life?
Unwilling to give her any answers, I turned around and curled up again in front of the door. The three of us remained in silence until the bright red light above the operating room turned off.
I checked again. Axel was still breathing.
The doctor stepped out of the operating room and immediately stopped when he saw me in the doorway in
wolf form.
His first reaction was aggression instantly but Liam spoke from the end of the hall. “Stand down. I let her in here.”
He walked towards me with Viktor behind him. Viktor was covered head to toe in blood. It made me wonder where exactly he was during the battle.
“Luna,” he said as he knelt in front of me. “I am sorry I was delayed handling the small fry. Are you alright?”
I yipped in response and got to my feet as they wheeled Axel out of the operating room. As he passed by me, even with his eyes closed, a whisper slipped from his lips.
“Chloe.”
It took pure willpower not to jump on the stretcher.
“Chloe,” he said again, his voice getting louder. He started to thrash in his bed but I used my snout to nudge
his face.
He instantly calmed down, his body tilting towards me. Before he could fall off the bed, I stood on my hind legs and held him so he could stay on.
