Chapter 160
Chloe’s POV
Liam could not stop laughing for an hour.
“Oh, the goddess, Chloe,” he said between breaths. “You should have seen their faces. Just seeing Doctor Silvereen put so firmly in his place has added years to my life.”
I rolled my eyes. “I am glad my anger amuses you.”
Just remembering Silvereen’s condescending gaze made me so upset. I clicked my tongue and took another sip of my juice.
Liam let out a small laugh as he leaned over the table. “You look sofadorable when you are defending something you love. You have that little pout on your face and a fire in your eyes.”
I immediately sensed the mood shifting and shifted the gears of the conversation. “You said you would help me with what I want if I helped you with the directors.”
Liam noticed what I was doing but nodded regardless. “Alright. What would you like me to help you with?”
“You know of my bodyguard? Viktor?” I started, my hands wringing together.
I was nervous about asking him for this because it was a completely personal favour. The royal family had nothing to gain by doing this for me but I decided to try anyway.
The worst Liam could say is no.
“This is not public news but he is in a relationship with the Luna’s assistant of my pack, Mara…and Mara is my friend. Probably my only one in Everdeen. However, her father does not approve of Viktor.”
I went ahead to explain Mara’s family situation to him. Her small pack. Her six older brothers. Her father wanting to use her to secure a very good political relationship with a bigger pack.
“So he is absolutely not going to accept her being married to a shadow bodyguard-‘
“Unless the said shadow is endorsed by a much higher power like koyalty,” Nicola said, entering Liam’s office like a ghost.
He was so silent that even while he was right beside Liam and me, neither of us could sense him.
“You could have asked me for that. I am in charge of the royal guard,” Nicola said, sitting beside me.
Liam shoved Nicola away from me. “And I am the prince, higher ranked than you, and her brother. Why would she come to you?”
Before the two of them started to bicker, I stopped them, hands raised in front of them. “Can we stay on topic? I need to get back. Axel must be looking for me already.”
Liam huffed and crossed his arms over his chest. “I still do not like that man…fine. What do you want me to do for you?”
I looked down at my hands. “I am not sure. I do not want Mara to leave Everdeen so Viktor has to remain inside Everdeen while working for you.”

He hummed, brows scrunched as he thought. “That would be a tad difficult. I simply wanted to have him become my personal guard. My current one is getting senile.”
There was a small coughin the corner and Liam raised his voice. “Yes, was talking about you, Lionel. You are getting senile.”
“Being your personal guard would also mean him remaining a shadow though,” Nicola said. “I think that defeats the purpose. He needs to be in a position that has authority and makes him on the level of another Alpha.”
The two men turned to me.
“You already have a plan, don’t you?” Liam asked and I nodded.
“Would it be possible to create some kind of agency that works as liaison between the different packs? I have checked and the packs on our continent do not seem to have anything of the sort at the moment.”
Liam rested against the table, his expression thoughtful. “That is true,” he muttered. “I know they started something like that amongst the packs in Russia.”
I explained to them what I had in mind.
The agency would act as an intermediary between packs, providing them with connections, capital, advice and even security services.
I would have loved to start it myself but I did not know the first thing about business, nor did I have the manpower to start a project like that.
I could have told Luna Silvia about it but using Liam for this would make this project more credible.
“So, Chloe, if the royal family does start a project like that, why Viktor?” Liam said. “If I am going to be throwing my weight behind something in court, those old men would want facts and not…”
I handed him my phone. It was open to a copy of Viktor’s resume that I had swiped off Axel’s phone when he was sleeping.
Liam read through the list with wide eyes.
“Business management. Diplomacy. Event management. Chemistry?” Liam looked up at me. “All these degrees and certifications and you have him working as a bodyguard?”
I calmly took another sip of my juice.
It was only after I saw this resume that I dared to bring up this plan with Liam.
Viktor had gotten the education and experience of most Alphas. All he needed was the position to stand tall
beside them.
