Chapter 168
Chloe’s POV
The moment we were out of Alpha Paul’s office, Tony pulled Axel into a weird bro hug.
“I missed you two. This is probably the longest the two of us have been apart.”
As Axel was about to smile, he slapped Axel’s back hard and then punched his arm. “Luna Diane nearly killed me because you texted me and did not text her!”
Axel rubbed his arm absentmindedly, rolling his eyes. “I was busy. Mother understands.”
As he said that, Tony’s eyes drifted to me and he grinned. “So…when did this happen?” he asked, his finger pointing between the two of us.
Axel could not hide his smile. “The first night? we arrived in the Alpha King’s pack.”
Tony’s lips parted. “Two weeks ago? Seriously? You guys got together for two weeks and you did not think to inform any of us?”
My lips pursed. “Well, you know now, don’t you?”
Axel noticed my discomfort so he shoved Tony out of the way. “Let’s talk in the morning. Also, bring Amira. Chloe keeps wailing how there are no women in the pack for her to talk to.”
My hand moved instinctively and punched the side of his stomach.
Axel coughed like the blow actually hurt him.
“I did not hit that hard,” I said, my hands hovering over his side.
He smiled but it clearly did not reach his eyes. “You severely underestimate your own strength. Are you trying to kill me?”
It took a while for Axel to recover, a bit too long that I started to grow suspicious.
We entered my room first and he kicked off his shoes, going to climb onto the bed.
I stopped him. “Hey, you need to change into something more comfortable,” I said while in reality, I was trying to check the place I punched to see if it was as bad as he claimed it was.
As he took off his shirt, I let out a small gasp.
That place now had a red bruise, like he had been smacked in the side with a club repeatedly.
When he saw me staring, he smiled and hid his body from my gaze. “It’s okay. I was being silly earlier.”
“It’s not okay,” I said, looking down at my hands. I was not trying to hurt him but I had. Would this happen in the future?
What I was talking to a child and accidentally moved my hand in the wrong direction? Or I was having an argument and lost my temper?

Axel was an Alpha and even, he got a bruise. With this strength, I could maim someone without intending to?
Warm hands closed over my cheeks, tilting my head up. “Hey, you can simply learn to control your strength. They give us that kind of training from when we were kids…”
Axel pursed his lips as he remembered that David had not allowed me to go through formal education. I completed high school and college online with human curriculums.
“How about I handle your training myself?” Axel offered. “You are officially eighteen so it would not draw any attention.”
“Aren’t you forgetting something, fiance?” I said, stepping closer. “I am pretty sure the entire pack is hovering around wondering why I am not having my birthday party.”
Axel frowned. “You cannot celebrate today. Aren’t you exhausted?”
“The whole time we were with your parents, you did not mention our mating ceremony once.” I crossed my arms, wearing an annoyed expression. “Is it really not that important to you?”
His lips stretched into a wide grin and he pulled me into an embrace, twirling me around.
Suddenly, he set me down on the ground, heading towards the door. “I should tell Mum to host it tomorrow. No, tomorrow is too soon for anyone to arrive.”
He looked back at me. “Perhaps I should mark you first so that you will not be able to run away and everyone will know you’re mine.”
My jaw slacked at his words. Was he seriously considering that?
Before I could rip into him, he added, his expression thoughtful.
“Perhaps, it would be better for you to mark me so that you will not be able to change your mind on who you want later.”
He nodded multiple times. “That makes more sense.”
I covered my lips with my hand. “What are you talking about? You want me to mark you?”
Axel frowned. “Do you not want to mark me?”
My hands curled into fists at my sides. “I…do women mark men? Especially Alphas? Isn’t it considered weak or something?”
When Axel actually paused to think about it, my heart fell.
Hannah had never marked him in her past life, neither had I marked Jax. Really, there were very few Alphas that let their partners mark them.
The reason was simple: so it would be easy to replace their mate.
