My Stepsister Returned To Rewrite Fate But I Became Luna (Chloe) novel Chapter 172

Chapter 172

Chloe’s POV

When Luna Silvia said that, I paused, my eyes widening slightly.

I had completely forgotten about that custom for proper Alpha mating ceremonies like this.

In my past life, my mother walked Hannah down the aisle. In this life, I did not have her.

My eyes slightly watered as I turned around to face Luna Silvia. Without a word, she stepped forward and pulled me into a hug.

“It’s alright, darling,” she whispered, gently stroking my hair.

We stayed in that position for a few minutes until I composed myself and leaned back. “I should probably start getting ready before evening.”

The next few hours were a whirlwind of make-up, skincare and laughter.

Halfway through the preparations, Sandra and I curled up underneath the bed to watch a movie while Luna Diane and Luna Silvia argued about what accessories I should wear.

As the argument got more intense, there was a knock on the door.

Axel opened the door and poked his head into the room, searching for me. “Where is Chloe?”

Sandra poked her head out from under the bed and looked at him. “She is getting ready. What do you want?”

“Getting ready?” he said, looking under the bed. “Under there?”

I huffed and laid flat on the floor. The reason I had run here was that Riven insisted on waxing me everywhere.

Literally everywhere.

Speaking of the devil, Riven opened the door of the bedroom. “Chloe, I have heated the wax. Where are you…what the hell is a man doing here? Don’t you know not to see the bride before the wedding?”

Before Axel got a chance to defend him, Riven started to kick him out of the room.

Darius stepped in after him, trying to calm his mate down but she started to chase him out too.

I checked the time again. It was just three hours to the start of the ceremony and none of us here had started getting ready.

At this rate, we were all likely going to be late.

All of the bickering and back and forth continued for another twenty minutes before Axel was able to escape Riven and kneel beside the bed.

“I snuck away from the Alphas to check on you,” he whispered. “Are you alright? Why are you under the bed?”

“I’m hungry,” I responded. “I’m not sure I can eat because of my dress.”

Axel frowned. “I would rather you wear an old dress and not go hungry. Hold on.” He straightened and left the

room.

A few minutes later, he returned with a platter of fast food that made all the conversation in the room stop and turn to him.

I crawled out of the bed and took the tray from him. Right there on the floor, I started to eat.

You could have gotten her something small to eat. What if she has jitters later and gets nauseous?” Luna Diane asked, coming closer but she did not stop me.

Axel snorted. “Does she look nervous? If anything, all of this is just a formality to her.”

Sandra came out and started eating my food with me. “But you guys are finally getting married now. If she wants to leave you now, that would be a lot more difficult.”-

I froze, looking up at Axel but he wore a smile that scrunched up his face a little.

“The thing is I do not think a mate bond is going to stop Chloe from leaving me,” he admitted after a minute. And if it would, she would rather kill me and free herself, even if it means that she has to be on the run.”

My lips parted in shock of him saying that but I knew it was true.

If Axel ever fucked up enough for me to leave him, even a mate bond would not stop me.

But I was willing to tough out this life with him.

I simply hummed and continued eating my food. Axel left to go talk to the Lunas and only after a while did I realize that Sandra had gone silent beside me.

“What?” I asked her with food in my mouth. “Does it not taste good?”

She shook her head and then nodded. Then she turned to me. “Chloe, how did you know Axel was the one?”

My head tilted at her question and then, I shrugged. “I guess you just know,” I replied. “I don’t have any other way to explain it. Why not ask your mum for advice?”

Sandra sighed in irritation. “Her and Dad are pushing for me to accept Nicola as my mate. I’m not even sure I like him.”

“Besides the fact that he’s hot?”

Sandra smiled and rolled her eyes. “Yes, besides the fact that he’s hot. I…don’t think we sync on a fundamental level, you know? Also, all the missions and killing…someone is going to come for me someday because he killed the wrong person.”

Her eyes were sad as she looked at her family talking with mine in the corner.

“Mum and Dad say that he will protect me. Only Darius is on my side in this.” Her eyes watered slightly. “I do not want to put myself or any children I would have in danger because their dad is an assassin.”
