Chapter 173
Chloe’s POV
Joe’
By the time it was twenty minutes to the start of the ceremony, everyone was running around and rushing.
Since no one was out yet, Alpha Paul came up to my bedroom to check. The sight made his eyes widen
“Why aren’t you all dressed?!” he snapped.
Luna Diane, the only one of us who had somehow found time to do a full face of makeup and dress, rushed him
out of the room.
“Paul, give them some time. They are younger women,” she said.
“Chloe, go into your damn dress,” Riven snapped, tossing the green dress at my face.
With how fitted it was, I doubted I would be able to eat anything at the dinner tonight.
“If you do not like it, wear something else,” Sandra said, putting on her dress. After Luna Diane, she was the next fastest to be ready.
I was about to move to the line of dinner dresses when Riven stopped me. “Why don’t you want the dress? This was what you paid for.”
I looked down at the dress. “You mean what you paid for?”
Riven’s mouth opened and then shut. Before she could formulate another counterattack, Luna Silvia held her shoulder.
“It’s her own mating ceremony. The least she can do is be allowed to choose her own dress,” Luna Silvia said, steering her daughter-in-law away from the closet.
My fingers brushed through the lines of dresses, stopping at a bright red dress.
Red. I would not say that it was really my color, much less the color that I wanted to wear at a mating ceremony.
As I was still contemplating, my eyes fixed on a particular outfit in my closet that I had never worn. An idea came to mind but I needed Axel’s cooperation.
As the other women were still distracted with their own dresses, I opened the door between Axel and my bedroom and crossed into his bedroom.
He and Tony were in there, getting dressed, laughing about something.
When he saw me, his eyes lit up and then, he scanned me from head to toe, still in my bathrobe. “Is there something wrong…did you suddenly get cold feet?”
“I thought of something crazy but I need your cooperation,” I whispered, getting even more excited.
It was a small idea but the longer I thought about it, the more my heart pounded in my chest.
“My earliest dreams of what I wanted my wedding to look like were on the beach in a summer dress,” I explained. “Call me crazy when I have designer gowns. I know but-”
Axel stepped forward and gently brushed my cheek. “So what do you want me to wear?”
I smiled, almost in disbelief that he was giving in to me so easily. I went into his closet and picked out a summer

outfit: a light-colored button shirt and khakis.
You and I will be barefoot as well,” I said and thrust the outfit into his arms. “Thank you so much.”
I ran back into my own bedroom and grabbed the dress off the rack in my closet.
“What are you doing?” Luna Silvia asked as I shiminied into the gown.
I had put on a little weight over the last few months so it was a snug fit around the hip area but it looked good.
“You told me to pick my dress,” I said, turning around in the mirror.
“Yes, one of the dresses we brought, not a summer dress,” she whispered, looking through the door. “Don’t tell me Axel is changing too.”
As if on cue, he opened our adjoining door and smiled. “Hi.”
Luna Silvia looked like she was about to have a stroke. “Goddess. We’re doing a themed wedding out of the blue? am walking you down the aisle. I cannot be wearing couture!”
I understood her panic but it was not really my problem…
I grabbed my bouquet in one hand and then, Axel’s hand in the other. “Let’s go.’
“Hold on,” he said and brought out a box he had been hiding behind him. He opened it and showed me the necklace. “Let me help you put it on.”
As he set it on my neck, Sandra gasped. “Wait a minute. I know that piece. Someone bought it at an auction in Canada a few weeks ago for ”
Before she could say the amount, Axel cleared his throat loudly.
I would not deny that I was very curious but at the same time, I really did not need to know how much he spent, especially if he did not want to tell me.
“Luna,” Axel said, his tone calm and respectful. “I am certain you can figure something out…or in the worst case, we can have a procession like the human weddings and then Chloe and I walk out together.”
My eyes lit up. “Hold on, that is perfect-”
“Absolutely not,” Luna Diane said, re-entering the room. “I am letting you both have your moment because it is your ceremony but you will not break tradition. Luna Moonflame and I will work something out.”
Axel and I left the room first, laughing because of the look his mum gave us.
“Luna Diane might report to Alpha Paul-”
“Don’t you think it is about time you started calling them Mum and Dad?” Axel asked bluntly and my eyes widened.
“What?”
“My parents are your parents,” he said softly. “…or do you not want to? It’s okay if you do not want to.”
“I…”
I trailed off, thinking of Axel’s parents. My relationship with them in this life was leagues better than it had ever been in my past life.
