Coloe’s POV

The party broke apart around dawn the next morning.

Half of the party-goers had drunk themselves half-dead and were able to stumble back to their bedrooms. The other half were sprawled out on the ground and on couches sleeping.

Somewhere during the night, I had fallen asleep and when I woke up, Axel and I were cuddling on one of the couches.

I tried to sit up and felt all of my muscles creak in protest. Without opening his eyes, Axel muttered. “Baby, go back to sleep.”

“I need to use the bathroom,” I said and he finally rolled away.

It took a bit of gymnastics to get around the many bodies to the doors. By the time I got out, the sky above was still dark, still about an hour before sunrise.

I started walking to the bathroom and along the way, heard voices having a hushed argument. Unable to help my curiosity, I walked in that direction and found Sandra and Nicola hidden along the garden wall.

My brow lifted. He really had followed her all the way here.

“I told you that we did not do anything,” she hissed through clenched teeth.

Nicola looked just as angry as her but he was trying hard to keep calm. “He was flirting with you. I have eyes. When you bent over, that bastard was looking down your dress.”

“Must you assume that every man who comes up to me has bad intentions?” she snapped. “We were exchanging

small talk.”

“Yes, I will assume if I must,” Nicola said, not at all embarrassed by how controlling he sounded. “You are beautiful, smart, strong, come from a great family and know your way around a cock. Yes, Sandra, I will assume that every other man can see what I see.”

Sandra’s lips parted. She did not know whether to be happy at the compliments or punch Nicola across the nose.

I sighed and rolled my eyes and was about to walk away when Nicola suddenly turned in my direction.

His eyes darkened. “Show yourself.”

I stepped into the light with a raised brow and his anger instantly deflated. “Oh. Your Highness. My apologies.”

“Do not call me that,” I said. “By the way, anyone who passes by can hear your conversation. Take it somewhere private.”

I rushed to the bathroom and then went upstairs to my bedroom to take a long shower and change into clean clothes.

By the time I returned to the garden, the sun was up. Axel was sitting on the couch I had left him on, looking more presentable as half-dazed late teens and twenty-somethings moved around us.

When Riven spotted me, her lips curled up in disgust. “Look who went to bathe without telling anyone. I hope you feel clean.”

“Yes, very,” I replied. “You all should go bathe too. You stink. And we need to clear this place before noon. Luna

Axel came closer to me and was about to kiss my cheek when I poked his chest.

“No way. Go and brush your teeth,” I said, pointing inside the pack house.

The other party guests that wanted to gather around us instantly dissipated when I started herding them to brush their teeth and gather for breakfast in the guest hall.

One of the girls passing by stopped to ask me. “Luna. I did not see your sister all night. Did something happen to her?”

Right.

I completely forgot about Hannah’s conversation from the night before. I remember spotting Jax earlier during the party, talking with some other guys and drinking.

But Hannah had not shown up at all.

She would never pass up the chance to put herself in the spotlight or at the very least, network with some susceptible people to bring them over to her side.

Also, Donatello had not been able to attend the ceremony but he came during the night and joined the party.

I would have thought she would jump on the chance to establish herself beside him.

Whatever she must be up to must be much bigger than I thought.

I turned right around and headed towards the pack house. Her scent was scattered all over the floor right below ours, the rooms where the Moonflame family was staying.

Without warning, I threw open the door. Luna Moonflame shot out of bed, looking ready to attack someone.

When she saw that it was me, she let out a sigh. “Chloe, you cannot scare me like that.”

Her mate opened the bathroom door and poked his head out. His face was covered with shaving cream.

“Chloe, is something wrong?” he asked.

I let out a small sigh, pinching the bridge of my nose. “I…I don’t know. It’s just a bad feeling.”

Luna Silvia closed the door behind me and brought me into the room. “What is wrong? I know you would not be this worried if you did not notice something real.”
