Chloe’s POV

“I want to make my own coffee myself,” I said, standing in the doorway of the kitchen.

The head chef, Marion, looked back at the hustling kitchen and then at my face. “Luna, we really can make your coffee for you. There is no need to-”

“Chloe, stop giving the man a hard time. It’s just coffee,” Celestia said, her voice coming from deep into

the kitchen.

I stepped past Marion to look at what she was doing. She was bent over two cupcakes and a steaming cup of tea, pouring milk into the tea cup.

“That is Axel’s plate set,” I blurted before I could help it.

Celestia could not hide her proud smirk. “Yes. And?”

“He does not take milk with his tea…or cupcakes either.”

Why was I even talking? Why did it matter to me?

Axel and I signed a contract. He could do whatever he wanted with another woman and it would hardly

matter to me.

Celestia twirled her hair around her finger. “Huh? He asked me to bring the cupcakes I made to his office before lunch. I guess it just depends on who serves him the food, I guess?”

She picked up the tray and walked right to me. As she was about to go past me, she leaned closer to whisper in my ear.

“Axel and I are childhood friends. Of course I know him better than you do.”

I stood in the doorway of the kitchen until her footsteps faded and then, I turned around, heading back to the library to study.

“It doesn’t matter,” I muttered as I swung open the door, pausing when I came face to face with my sister.

Unwilling to deal with her nonsense at that moment, I tried to sidestep her but she grabbed my arm and pushed me back. “Sis, where are you rushing off to?”

She stepped closer and gripped my face between her fingers. Slowly, her lips pulled up in a smug smirk.” I know that look. You finally got a reality check, didn’t you?”

Hannah’s hand slid over her mouth as she tried to muffle her laughter. “I can’t believe that you actually thought you and Axel could be a match. If he wanted you as his Luna, why has he not pushed for a mating ceremony yet?”

“Unable to find another man to sleep with and you decided to come bother me?” I said coolly.

I actually never planned on reporting Hannah. It did not serve any purpose and would only put a target on my back.

As much as the people around me would allow, I wanted to keep to myself and stay out of trouble till I was going to leave.

“All that smugness,” she whispered, her grip tightening on my face. “Watch how I deal with you once Axel kicks you out for that woman.”
