Chapter 32
Chloe’s POV
The sun was slowly setting when I returned to the packhouse with Viktor.
As I walked in, all eyes turned to me. I ignored the whispering and marched up the stairs to my bedroom, hoping to have a long shower but just as I crossed the dining room, I heard my name.
Axel stood behind me, arms crossed, his jaw tight with irritation. “Where have you been?”
“Out,” I said, raising my shopping bags.
“Did you meet up with someone?”
Celestia spawned from where she did. “Axel, I told you that my men were great at their jobs. They know
what they saw.”
I had predicted that Hannah was going to use this path but Celestia seemed like a more mature woman. The elegance I perceived radiating off of her slowly started to rot away.
I turned to Axel with a raised brow, curious to see if he would go along with her whims. If he decided to
think that I would cheat on him, I had nothing to say to him.
“Chloe,” Celestia said, taking a step closer. “I know that you might feel a bit bothered with how busy Axel is but that is not an excuse to go on a date with another man-”
“I suppose Viktor is a good enough date companion,” I said, waving my hands for Viktor to give me the rest of my shopping bags.
Celestia frowned in confusion as Viktor handed the other four bags to me and I gave him the instructions to bring in my books and set them down in my room.
He nodded and turned out of the packhouse to head back to the car.
I faced Axel and Celestia. “Anything else? My body hurts.”
“Your men saw Viktor with her?” Axel asked Celestia.
She pulled out her phone to type something. A shaky smile slipped onto her face. “Ah…who exactly is he?”
“Chloe’s bodyguard,” Axel said, sounding even more irritated. “The bodyguard that has been trained from childhood to protect my Luna.”
Celestia flushed and took a step back. “O-Oh. I am s-so sorry. I wasn’t thinking-”
“Yes, you weren’t.” He moved forward and reached for my bags. “Let me help you with those.”
I moved the bags out of reach but he grabbed them anyways, putting them all in one hand and then, pulling me up the stairs with his other hand. Before we turned at the landing, I glanced behind me.

Celestia’s hand gripped the railing so tight that it cracked. Her glare was beyond words. If she accidentally found something against me, I was done.
Sooner than later, I needed to do two things: cement myself as Axel’s Luna with an achievement that would impress even Alpha Paul and then, find a way to get Celestia out of this house.
Before she lost it and climbed into Axel’s bed in the middle of the night.
“I thought you would be back home at lunch,” Axel said as he set down the boxes, helping me unpack
them one after the other.
“I do not get a lot of free days and the pack can be quite suffocating,” I said, stripping off my jacket.
I tossed it on the back of my chair before heading to the bathroom to run a bath. When I came back out, he was staring at the small bars of gold lined up in a box.
“If you wanted gold, you could have just told me,” he said.
